Hello,

As the pictures show, we recently faced a big drop of clicks/impressions on our e-commerce store in France. We didn't change anything and the store has been running for 3 years without any problem.

We hired a SEO expert and he suggested to us to wait until the update ends and said that it may go up again but I don't think so.

What do you think about that? What can we do to make it go up again?

Thanks :)

you need to register with the service for it to work

Hi,
Obviously you need to recall what happened in October of 2023 and analyze that. Most probably, the reason is there.

First of all, it's obvious that you got hit with the last March Google update.

But something else caught my eye, the events from September - October - November.

You should see what you did during that period, that is, the period from the beginning of October, maybe even September, whatever you did between September and October gave good results (if it was not paid advertising).

After that, it is obvious what happened.

It's mainly because of Q4.

We added backlinks from August to March. Do you think it may be the reason?

Well, it depends on what type of backlinks have you used.

Did you have a plan for link building or did you work unplanned, I mean on some black hat methods with, let's put it this way, building tier 2 and tier 3 links and some high authority links here and there?

Have you used the free version of ChatGPT for writing articles?

We all do this more or less, I don't want you to misunderstand me, I want to help you, that's why I ask direct questions, and I want you to be honest so that we can really help you.

We work with an agency that plans all the backlinks of all our websites. The agency is pretty famous in France and they don't use PBNs.

We have 20+ e-commerces in France and this is one of the only ones that has 0 AI for products/collections/articles.

The UX was never very good as this is a website we bought from a beginner.

Brainstorming would take you nowhere. The thing is Google is hammering websites intentionally. The AI content, Thin Content, Content with lots of videos, Human-written content, Grammatical mistake content bla bla bla are all BS. Google wants to punish websites and the reason is only known to them. May be they are going through hard time in their business and they aren't able to pay the publishers. Or may be they have ruined the whole ranking system within their own system. We have seen lots of news about governments of various countries imposing fines because of their unfair practices. May be they want people to opt for paid advertisements. things are completely messed up thesedays. Google used to be a reliable source of income for me but nowadays, everything is ruined. Those who are suggesting to have several websites parallelly, I want to tell them I had 10 sites and all of them are hammered one by one in due course over the last 2 years.
