so recently i decided to optimise one of my sites pages for google. I wanted to go after a ohrase "oven cleaning dublin". Initially my site would rank 6-7ish for url domainname.com/oven-cleaning so, i decided to 301 redirect to domainname.com/oven-cleaning-dublin. Since the site is not built on any CMS i went in to the host, renamed the file to oven cleaning dublin and did the 301 redirect. I also optimised my content, improved length and h1 changed to my target phrase. The next day i come back and my site went from being position 7ish to nowhere to be found in top 50 reults. Checked my webmasters for penalties, none. What did i do wrong?

I should also add: i modified and submited my sitemap to webmasters, checked robots and manually forced google to index this page for me about 10 days ago. It is still nowhere to be seen on top 50 results. However, google does show my homepage for that keyword in poaition 8ish. Which was there before i made any changes to begin with....

Since you moved the page it will take time to re index. Links that were built to the page are not linking to the new page even if you 301 redirect.
