    Update

So... with the impact of corona virus, I've lost my Job!

    Haha what a blessing.

I'll still have a few more days to go but tourism is the first place a virus like this will impact. I feel bad for the thousands of people that will be out of a job in a few days and weeks. It's gonna be rough as there won't be any jobs available for them to get as most business will close temporarily. Every time I look back I feel grateful for the decisions I made and the knowledge gained to build a business from home.

I'm actually quite happy and to me it's like my prayers are being answered. Remember when I complained that it's a family business and I had no way to leave it. Well here it is, I didn't have to do anything and I'm now able to go back home and focus on what I love. It's amazing how I get everything I ask for and I thank God for supporting me all the time. :D

Either way, I have the time now and will be cranking out sites and playing with some stocks through Robin Hood. Will be posting that here too, gonna try dividend investing. Also, sometimes I feel tempted to start a new journey thread but I also feel it's pointless to do so.

    1) I don't know how to post how I do silo mapping without sharing my current maps. I'd have to build a new one from scratch and I can't swear I have the time to do that.
    2) I use ahrefs, google trends, and amazon to pick a niche then look for keywords.
    3) Yes, I do use review/best in my titles.

I bought expired domains. But you can build it buy getting links.

    Now's the time?

At the moment, I'm hosting on WPX hosting as my primary and Namecheap for sites i'm building up from scratch since those won't have much traffic for the next 9 months. Nor will they have much traffic so it doesn't need an expensive host.

Using multiple hosts to diversify portfolio just in case Google decides my screws need tightening and screws me.

At any time you find yourself with a situation like this, the best thing to do is look at the search intent that google assumes the user has when searching. Honestly either method can work if done right and I've had both methods work for me. So there isn't any real correct way as both " could " work.

    Option 1 - One article

    1) I'd use H3s instead of H2s. Use H2 as the primary topic of the article that way google isn't confused about the parent keyword.

    2) You'd have to clearly distinguish the use of keywords to achieve relevance for the primary keyword with "Best Widgets" being the focus at the right spots in the article. ( So if you jump to the H3 (Best Gas Powered Widgets) make sure in that section you only mention gas powered widets and not just widgets in general) The easiest way to do this is to use a tool like Surfer SEO or CTR + F and look at keyword placements.

    Option 2 - Multiple Articles

To avoid canibalization, just use different products and avoid using the same keywords multiple times on the page. As long as you focus the relevance of your content and make sure that it is unique you "should" be fine.

Again it all depends on the search intent. If you choose option 1 you'd need more links than option 2 to rank for all the different keywords since you will need a longer article. I actually prefer option 1 over option 2. However, I've done option 2 more than option 1 since I didn't have money to invest in links. The more links you acquire the more keywords the article will rank for.

So keep search intent, article relevance, and proper use of H tags in mind and you'll be fine with either option.

I did notice it. Those days I actually had bad days at work and went to the bathroom more thinking about the next day. But now that I'm not making any money it doesn't bother me again. Honestly at the time, I was more amazed that I could actually reach $300/day and when it went on for days I was hoping it wasn't a fluke.

Multiple small and large websites. At least 30 sites by the end of this year now that I have time. Gonna be doing Set and Forget and focusing on the ones that make me the most money or easiest to rank. After a year or when I have free time I'll work on the stragglers.

It's the perfect time to be in this business, you'll have a lot of people trying to get into IM in a few days. And you'll also have a lot of course pushers. You'll also have a lot of methods being promoted but either way once you are ahead you'll stay ahead if you work hard.

I'm glad I learnt what I did when I did. I used to think that I got into IM late back in 2013 but 5 years from now people will be thinking the same about people that got into it from 2019.

I agree, some niches will do fine even in this economic climate. Especially fitness niches and other indoor and essential needs niches. Here's the Search console for the site sold today the traffic is actually soaring.

    a9b2bccf07870df91591d094b5025bb5.png

So I'd actually have been fine, but if Amazon decides like that have now to stop shipping non-essentials it's pointless either way. Plus now that I have no job, I wouldn't have any money to survive this crisis. Now I'm nice and cozy at home with money to last me a year or more and invest in sites and stocks without worry.

All the same, I'll be building sites with more focus now thanks to everything. And I don't regret my decision at all.

Now is the time, actually its the time to go harder than before. A lot of new IM'ers will be incoming soon and the further ahead you are the better you'll be in a years time. Affiliate marketing is going nowhere and search engines are here for quite a few more years. It's the right time to be into this, a year later you'll be laughing to the bank.

When I heard I'd be jobless, I actually started laughing. The more they talked the more I laughed. I'm extremely happy at the moment :)

    Hey, man

I follow your journey closely and I love reading it. You mentioned 30 websites by the end of the year.

Do you mean money sites? If yes, how do you plan to manage them?

Reading your posts I get the impression that you are very motivated and eager to expand now that you have the opportunity. This is very good, however, If I were you I would be careful to not get reckless by the good sum you earned by selling your website. You know yourself but it can be quickly gone if you are not careful with it.

Just make sure that you are on top of everything and very focused. :)

    Wishing you good luck!

Yes, money sites. I plan to do Set & Forget on them by adding about 30 articles and leaving them to rank for 6 months. I won't be building them all at once but overtime in my free time.

I'm still working on and focusing on my main projects till I'm back to making at least $100 a day and that won't change. But whenever I'm free I'll build some additional sites.

In regards to money, I've always been a frugal guy and have never chased shiny objects or the new trend. Plus once you've made money out of no money it's very hard to not make money with money. Unless, you get crazy which I can't foresee.

My capital to invest in sites isn't coming from the money earned from selling the sites, but my outstanding affiliate commissions. So all in all I think I'll do fine, thanks for the heads up though.

Hey @Bloooop I've read all 41 pages ;) I've built an Amazon site with pages instead of posts so I could do the Silo thing, The only difficult thing I've found is not to have the keyword in the url twice, like domain.dot.com/appels/best red apples

How have you got around that when using a parent page.

I also took it a bit further by having a different menu for each parent page, So only the apple page linked to the best red apples, etc. I did that with Thrive architect :)

Mine isn't earning great money about $70 month average and the site is 2 years old

    Update

Almost fully settled in to working in the comfort of my room again. Just have some things to finalize at the office this week, and probably collect my last salary cheque.
I've been spending a good portion of my day de-stressing from the constant 9-5 work flow by playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint. However, I've never forgotten to get some work done so my efforts compound in the long run.

So here's the update to what I've done so far:

    Scaling to $10k Project

Project 4 - Pre-Established Site Bought from Flippa

    Site Code: 《PJS》
    Domain Age: 2 Years
    Site Structure Progress: 「100%」Completed
    Content Progress:36 + 32 Pending /400」 Articles
Link Building Progress: 「150/300」 Ref Domains
    Traffic Diversity: 「1/4」 Traffic Sources
    Budget:$2000 Domain + $750 on Articles」of $3000 Spent
    ROI: 「$22.92

    Site Update

This site is possible my quickest path back to $1000 a month so I've spent most of my time and efforts working on this site. Once I've added about 120 articles to this site I can leave it to sit for a month then get back to it.

So I bought this site around February 24 and I think the tweaks I've done so far has been paying off. It has produced it's first significant earnings yesterday:

    689748637eae3f8fd512148f7fa0a5dc.png

And the traffic has been increasing, so with 120 new articles I think I could be at $1000 a month from this site in a few months.

    f213203a4477a7141d5fb39d56eb1012.png

I started fixing up the site around the 10th of the month. Nothing to write home about yet but I think there is progress.

    ---------

I'm still working on my other projects but I'm trying to finish uploading these articles that I got back from writers. I'll try getting at least 5 - 10 done tomorrow, and I'm releasing 2 articles a day for the sites.

For my expired domains, I'm waiting till I have 30 - 90+ articles to launch those sites with 1 or 2 articles released a day for 2 months.

Also, I don't think I shared my earnings for last month but I think I'm currently making about $150 a month. I really want to get back to $1000 a month within 3 months then to 5k in another 3 and $10k by the end of the year.

    Earnings for Last Month:

    8bd93de30dd236646242bee8e9e977ee.png

    Earnings MTD:

    1dbb39a6be0da1f655d8719cb5834ac9.png

I have 2 very high ticket items left to be shipped so if those go then i know I'll make over $200 this month.

I might have to go back whether I want to if I'm asked. My "family" owns the hotel that I worked at so my relationship with them would require me to help.
If I'm not asked though I wouldn't go back, worse if I'm able to swim through the corona virus shit storm and make a stable income I would seriously consider not going back.

It turns out that I won't be able to buy US stocks as I'd need a SSN or I would have to pay my local broker $5000 to get started with US stocks. So I might just invest in stocks in my country, I won't consider it a loss unless the companies go bankrupt.

I plan to buy and hold these stocks for atleast 8 years but I wouldn't be putting all my savings in it. So hopefully that will go good.

For me being laid off is a blessing, but when I look at my co-workers and staff they are totally devastated. I couldn't feel good about it so even now I don't know if I can be too happy. That's why I've been spending a lot of time playing games to take my mind off everything.
It sucks being laid off, I can just imagine how I'd feel if I didn't have a large cushion to fall back on.

That said, my last site seems to be fine so I might've been able to make some money to tide me through the few months but I'm sure it would feel very uncertain.

Having it more than once isn't much of a problem from what I've seen. And not having it doesn't make much of a difference either.

I have three ways I go about doing it though just in case it was a problem.

    1) I use domain.dot.co m/apple/best red apples ( From what I've seen or speculate google assumes different search intent for apple vs apples. So you could switch it around and use domain.dot.com/apples/best red apple if you wanted.
    2) I use domain.dot.com/apple/ red and use the proper title in the wordpress page title and H tags. It seemed to rank fine this way and I've not had any issues with pages I've done like this. This is my preferred way to do it though.
    3) I structure my content before so I know exactly how the url structure will be laid out. So when looking for keywords and structuring my plan I always ended up with a structure like mysite. com/security/cameras/nikon-n95-review.

At the end of the day, you'd have to experiment with different structures and see which one works. This is all my speculations and what worked for me so I can't guarantee if it's the best way as I'm no expert in this regard yet as I haven't done any concrete tests.

I can't say for certain, but I highly doubt your url structure is the reason why your site isn't ranked.

    Thanks

Thanks, I think it couldn't have happened at a better time. I think too many coincidences led to this felt so all I can say is "God's Plan" :D

Sure, hope my story reaches a lot of people and has some impact on their lives.

Hi @Bloooop - thanks for the continued inspiration.

When it comes to you money articles (I cannot recall reading this in the thread) - do you have "best x for y" type articles and individual product reviews? If so, what is the rough split across your sites?

    Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry, I see you already mentioned 80% money articles and a mix of types -just wondered if you had a further breakdown on the types as I'm focussing mainly only individual product reviews right now.

Great business intuituon! You made a great decision of selling your site, so now you have a lump sum of money for living and creating new businesses.

How's it going with all the Covid situation in your country?

Also, does it affect any of your sites in any way at the moment? USA looks to be one of the most affected countries.

    Reading all the pages..

So you earn 150$ / month with 1 site and 32 articles that's it?

My god hope I can earn my first $ this year after 1 year to work like hell with no results..

    Update

I've made it! After a long run, things have finally started to pay off and I got my best month ever.

I never thought the corona virus would impact my earnings in a positive way. Well I can't complain and I'm glad for the earnings for this month.

    Earnings for March:

    45ba8f2474d0b3026004a9a43a3eaf69.png

What can I say? April Fools...

Honestly, article types don't matter much as I've had success with both types. And have seen sites ranking with only best of articles and sites ranking purely from review type articles. At the end of the day, what matters is the difficulty of the keywords and the relevancy of your site to the topic (which you gain by covering keywords groups).

The situation in my country is just starting to develop. I'm actually expecting it to take a turn for the worse just like it did in US and Italy, even though the government have been fairly active in taking measures against it.

I'm actually always in doors but my wife still has to go to work 2 times a week. So hoping she's safe when she goes out and doesn't bring it to me.

On the bad side, my mom is a Nurse in the US and it's her that I'm really worried about.

It doesn't seem to be affecting my sites or niches negatively in terms of traffic and earnings as you can see above. :)

JK, my last site seems fine and my current niche seems to be having issues with supply so I don't think earnings will be all that great.

Earning $150 a month in a year is very easy if you take the right steps.

    ---------------

Guys the real update is coming in a few hours once I'm done doing some more work.

Hello @Bloooop thanks for your update!
You are promoting high ticket products right, like >$200 ?
You mainly target high keywords with a high search volume or mainly LT ?

    Thanks
