We can't wait for Sunday...keep updating. You are the inspire to many of us...including me!
$200+ a day that's my dream revenue right there I myself am on a journey to make amazon affiliate revenue with pinterest, its going a bit too slow so far.
This is great advice and a fantastic example.
Here's another example:
Smaller sites with huge relevancy and tonnes of support articles linking to the review pages are killing it at the moment.
Hoooof! So I spent few hours everyday for the past week reading this journey. It is definitely an inspiration and I'm fired up to take action.
Thank you for sharing with us. Looking forward to the big update.
I see that you have a great convertion rate. Do you have any example websites or any guidance on your structure?
Are you ussing aawp plugin ?
Oh i'll be waiting for that update !
Maybe you want to check your DM, i sent you a message more than a week ago.
Still waiting for the update !
Or isn't it Sunday yet in Jamaica ?
Guys sorry about the delay, regular updates will start probably tomorrow. I have a big meeting for my job coming up and I'm having to recreate new promotions on SEM, Facebook ads etc and I need to launch those before the meeting tomorrow. Plus do reports for performance last year but I'm almost done with that and will start splitting my time so I can get back to the journey. So give me till tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing.
Learnt a lot so far.
Take your time mate haha no worries, and good luck with work !
@Bloooop if possible, send me a PM. I'd like to get in touch with you about the selling process.
Is it possible we get that update man or not yet ?
So any update ?
Whatever you decide to do with your site I hope it brings you great results and a lot of profit.
I always become attached to my projects and for me it would have been difficult to sell them and let them go.
Thank you for everything you've shared! You can't even imagine how inspiring and helpful your thread has been to me and to many other people here!
Looking forward to following your upcoming affiliate projects from the start on this thread!
And I'd like to thank Tom for sharing so many helpful ideas here!
Update - $0 to $10K/Month (Fresh Start)
I've finally caught up with my 9-5 tasks and ready to start building out new sites to 10k. Everything with the last site is still going good. It finally listed on EF today so I'm hoping for a quick sell so I can really get to investing. For anyone interested in the earnings or a little motivation:
So let's restart...
Forget I even made it to 5k a month and start fresh. From this point on, my thread will answer the question most will ask 'successful' people when they're just starting out.
"If you had to do it again, what would you do?"
I think I can break it down in two phases... so here's what I found based on my experience.
Taking the first step to make it to X figure of your dreams is actually easier than you'd imagine but it is so easy that it's very hard to do!
It's so easy & hard that most of you reading this probably won't ever do something so simple.
I learnt this step early on but because of how simple it was I flip flopped like a fish out of water and never got anywhere for a time. I always felt like there was just something that held me back something more to learn, something i'm missing.
But now that I've overcome it and looked back, I realize that I was stupid all along and would've achieved more success if only...
So the first thing I'd do and will do since I'm doing it again, and the thing you need to do to make your own success story is this:
TAKE ACTION! NOW!!
Start dreaming of where you'd like to be and jump head first into it regardless of any dangers or doubts you're having.
If you don't have the skill set to a buy a domain, and set up hosting, and create a simple WordPress website then you're behind the times. And watching some simple YouTube videos is where you should be spending time at right now instead of on BHW.
Actually that's wrong, everything you need to be successful is on BHW. I'd credit 75% of all I know about internet marketing to this site. So lurk and learn all that you need to behind the scenes.
But let's say you've got the background basics down, the first thing to do is Niche Selection & Keyword Research.
How do I go about selecting a niche?
The general consensus online is to go in the niche of your current passion. But I tell you that it's !
Yes, having interest in a particular topic helps overcome some of the monotony of working online. But I personally think making money is more important, so let that be your passion! Be passionate about providing for your family, getting out of debt, buying a lambo, or whatever floats your boat.
I say screw your passions focus on your needs. And that's making money.
The main point is to go after the niche that can give you money. To do this I look for traffic opportunities and match those with affiliate products depending on the traffic.
High ticket items - $300 - $5000 = Requires at least 40-70 MS and a 1000 word article minimum.
Medium Priced Items - $80 - 299 = Requires at least 100 - 450 MS and a 2000 word article.
Low priced items - $10 - $79 = Requires at least 500 MS or very very low competition where I know I'd rank top 3 easily or links and a 2k to 5k article.
With that in mind, the first thing I do before anything else is search for traffic and items following that basic guideline. I can easily find a topic that has great products within a few minutes based on my experience.
Maybe you won't be able to do the same but I think you should be able to find one if you even randomly pick item categories on amazon then do some research from there. After you've identified a topic with good items you'll want to make yourself a keyword list and find closely related keywords and put them together in groups forming a sub-topic or category which will form your niche.
Try to get your keyword MS totals to 15k - 25k traffic volume. Following that you should have the wire-frame of a site that could potentially earn you $1k - $5k a month.
After you've grouped them, the next step is to make a content map using your favorite mind mapping software. This is great for silos and can save you a great deal of work in the future especially if you'll be relying on internal links and maintaining topical relevancy to compete with authority sites.
My favorite mind mapping tool right now is coggle.io. It's free to use with limited features.
Buying your domain and Set up
This is another area that I initially made some mistakes and learned a few key lessons that will help you.
Avoid Trademarks and the like:
The first mistake I made is not paying attention to trademarks and businesses that have a physical presence or organizations that might grow in the future. Before buying a domain always, always check online for trademarks for your name and look for businesses with similar names.
Second blunder I made is limiting my domain name scope. What I mean is selecting a domain name that only allows you to focus on a limited area of your selected niche.
I find that it's better to use a semi general domain name that allows room to grow in any direction while you niche down deep with content and grow out from there to higher categories or sister niches in the same general topic till you are an authority.
Getting the "Perfect" hosting service:
Next you'll want to focus on getting hosting and so on set up.
For hosting, it really doesn't matter in the beginning. You just want reliability and you want it as cheap as possible. Some hosting have low first year cost then charge you an arm and a leg the next year while promising the best speeds and what not.
PS. If an affiliate marketer refers it, you'd best steer in the other direction as it's likely BS and they just want commission.
You can get away with a simple namecheap hosting like I did or whatever other cheap hosting till your site hits 5k to 10k visits a month.
Choosing your themes:
While I believe that it's best to just do it once and get it out of the way.
The truth is... only traffic matters in the initial phase.
So don't rush out to buy newspaper theme for $70 like I did or the latest fancy amazon plugin or page builders.
YOU DON'T NEED THEM!
I bought a premium theme and regretted it as it did nothing towards the ultimate goal of making money.
My current recommendation and preferred set up is Astra, Thrive Architect, and WP Rocket. You can use generate press if you'd like too but just go simple and as minimal as possible while avoiding bloatware plugins on your site.
Best plugins to use:
Yoast ( Any other SEO plugin)
Use the free versions till your site starts making mula.
With all of that said, the key takeaway I hope you can get from PHASE 1 is to take action. Pay attention to the things I said but don't sweat the details as you'll learn along the way. Seriously, most of the initial worries you have are unfounded and will likely impact nothing.
The greatest mover of the needle is starting and getting it done.
Oh BTW Google isn't the only search engine, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo etc still brings traffic so sign up with them and add you're site. I started getting bing traffic long before Google traffic and it actually helped Google pick me up.
Phase Two - The second part of making it to X figure of your dream.
If I had to use only one word here... "Patience"
The second part is simply to be patient. I know you're broke and want money now but this often leads you to a dead end of losing focus, quitting when you've almost made it and being burned out.
I experienced it too..
I know how hard it is to wrap your head around all that you need to learn, and taking action, but it's very important to have patience. Moreover, even if you don't have patience, SEO forces you to as you literally have to wait 6 months or 3 months at best ( with an expired domain ) to even begin to see rankings or earnings.
So if you don't have six months or two years to be patient you'd best not get into SEO and building content sites.
But if you have what it takes and the drive to stick it out through the slow times I'm sure you'll see the rewards like I did. For me, it took 2 years, others might get lucky and do it faster. Or if you know what you're doing maybe you can get it done faster but whichever way you need some level of patience for SEO.
To help you get a clear picture refer to the screenshot below:
That's two years of patience and focusing the dream. So expect days and months of nothing but bots on your site.
You'll also need patience to build content, find more keywords, waiting for them to rank, outranking competitors, building backlinks, acquiring links, selling items, waiting for them to ship, waiting for google updates to normalize. There's just a lot that requires you to be patient so expect that going into this game.
There's not much else to say really. As making it to X online is simply dreaming big while taking action and waiting for the results of your action.
I'm there with you right now. And will be building new sites as often as I can and sharing as much as feasibly possible. With multiple updates everyday from now on.
So stick around for the ride as I get to $10k.
Glad to see you back posting regularly again dude .
Is WP Rocket easy to set up? I am thinking of trying it for my next domain as the free caching plugins seem to either not do anything or actually slow my domains down in my exprience.
yup its an easy set-up. but i would read this page before purchasing as many hosting companies might limit the features of WP Rocket.
Great post. Really excited for your new journey.
I love your quotes. The below one seems to to condense everything into one.
Great post and great to have you back!
Yesterday Google rolled out an update. If you don't mind me asking, have you seen any changes for your old site since this update? Also, looks like there was another (unnoficial) update on Jan 7. Did that update impact your site in any way? Thank you!
A very nice method, thank you. You inspired me and my GF (among other journeys) to start a website in this direction.
