Nice thread share. Keep update
Focusing on doing small daily tasks consistently and hoping it'll compound. I've redesigned the homepage and main category page of site 1 with content and ajax post to infinite load more. That should help link juice flow through from my home page to my other articles. With that done I won't be doing any other major changes to the site and just let it sit and regain rankings.
Earnings For Yesterday:
I had one high ticket order and some other regular ones. My traffic didn't completely fall off apparently as I'm hovering between 300 visits a day. I'm still down by half from 600 - 700 visits so the $150+ earnings that I had earlier this month won't be there every day. I'll get 5 more niche edits and see if it helps or makes things worse while adding the 26 articles I ordered this month. Apart from that, I won't be touching site 1 until January after the holidays.
EDIT: I'm seeing other sites in my niche with similar articles taking a complete nose dive with traffic.... maybe I was being impacted by that and not the SSL and other changes? Not sure if I should buy links or not now.
When you have a major technical problem for a few days and google crawls the site then you'll lose rankings pretty fast. Especially in my case as I was adding content so fast over the last month and my crawl rate increased. Some of my rankings have remained the same but for more competitive terms I've lost most of those rankings.
I do have sidebars but no social share buttons. I'm more interested in doing more with opt-in forms to start capturing emails. If you guys know any great software for WordPress I'd love to give it a try. I know that Elementor has some with great designs built in but I'm already using thrive and really can't bother switching to elementor right now.
Either way, I'm hoping that the rankings will jump back up fast unless I'm impacted by the recent update which I doubt.
Thanks for the suggestion I checked it out earlier and might consider it for future sites.
There's Sumome, but I've read somewhere that it has a big impact on the speed of the site.
Or you can use WPForms with Mailchimp and put a shortcode in your posts or somewhere in your theme code strategically.
I've seen some sites putting the form above the fold.
As for popups that cover the content asking for your email address, I personally hate them so much that I often leave the site immediately and avoid it in the future. So a popup like this can decrease your conversion rate a lot.
I think the traffic has decreased for all affiliate sites because shoppers are holding back and waiting for Black Friday deals. It should improve closer to Christmas.
Rankings are still down for most of my competitors. Which points the dip to the November update and there's nothing conclusive on what to do to fix it. I think I've done enough for the day and I'll just relax until Sunday or I might do some work tomorrow idk yet. I'm still hovering around 300 - 350 visits a day so that's a plus, hopefully, things remain like this or improve.
Earnings For Yesterday:
It's always a good idea to go after higher ticket items. Just 1 or 2 a day can make a world of difference. I got too used to the volume of sales but when rough times come around high ticket items are always there to save the day. If I can keep earning like this then I'd be back to 2k this month. So let's hope things remain the same.
I hate the pop-up ones too! I wanted something that I can add in between content on my home page or the bottom of my articles. Maybe I'll end up with elementor or try thrive leads one day.
As for the traffic, for me and other sites in my niche or affiliate sites, I look at its not just a dip in traffic. They are losing keywords hard. I'm not sure what to think yet as no one has any real answers so far. If you guys see anything interesting on the November update or have niche sites that climbed instead of falling feel free to share what you think is the cause.
So far I've watched the Income School video about the update and read what Search Engine Journal has to say but both have no indication of how to resolve it. But I didn't read the comments so I'll spend the rest of the evening doing that and relaxing.
Are these search console clicks?
Great thread. If you are still looking for plugins. DM me, I have some great suggestions. Currently running 8 affiliate sites right now, I am on a similar road map for revenue. But also focused on a fix + flip strategy
If thrive leads is too heavy, and if your theme has hooks you can add a simple form shortcode to a hook. Add a form to a footer widget too.
Btw, wanted to ask you:
Do you write something like: what should be in a good money printer (listing the best/most useful features, etc)? If you do, do you put it in the beginning before the comparison table or at the end in the FAQ/tips section? Thank you!
Will be interesting to follow your thread, good luck and work hard - every person is capable of 20x minimum more that he think he is
This thread is awesome, thanks for sharing, I am currently taking TASS course and planning to start working on my site as well.
Site 1 is fitness. But I'm tackling it from a unique angle and focusing on topical relevance
how do you come with unique angle when you choose particular niche ? can you elaborate in details, thanks in advance
This is an amazing thread. I always get tired working with Amazon these days simply because in India I have to report every damm individual sale as part of the accounting and the volume sales of Amazon makes it hard as opposed to selling relatively few high-end products, but this thread reminds me of my earlier days and makes me feel, maybe I should be back! A very nice work and showcasing by the OP here!
You know what’s even more impressive to me?
The fact that you were able to find that many keywords, haha.
In the past two days I’ve been researching keywords like a mad man, found only one and I’m 100% sure I don’t even know what am I doing
How do you do that?
Do you also hire someone to research the KW for you?
So far, this is the only article where I could find some information about the November update. Though their conclusion is debatable, I would recommend you to read it and see if that's the case with you (unless you've already read it.)
Not much to say in this update. I've been analyzing my SERPs and that of other sites and I believe it's mostly related to relevance. However, there are conflicting opinions on this as for short keywords I'm still ranking for the main one of each article but the LSI variants or terms with less relevance in the article have dropped. For long-tail keywords, those have remained the same and even the variants are still ranking. The pages that I sent niche edits to have actually increased in rankings instead of going down at least for now.
Overall my SERP activity is all over the place, one hour I'm on page 1 and getting over 30 visits in the hour which is typically the next I'm nowhere and getting about 14 views for an hour. I'll just keep watching and adding more content over the weekend.
The reality is that even if you quit your job because you hate being told what to do or taking orders from someone you'll still have Google or Facebook or something else controlling your life. One minute you're up and the next minute they decide your future and FK you up. Lol, keep hustling though.
Earnings for Yesterday:
Back to basics. It seems like the progress of this journey has been pushed back but I'll still hit 10k/month regardless of what it takes eventually.
I put it at the end of the article. Try to give people what they want upfront as you'll have a higher ctr by doing that instead of boring them with random.
Thanks for your good luck wish I'll need it!
Months of research and planning then taking immediate action.
Thanks for the support. Why do you have to report every sale? Were you doing FBA? Couldn't you hide what you are doing by using Payoneer and keeping all your earnings online?
No, I spend weeks sometimes looking for keywords. It's not easy and sometimes I can hardly find any but over time you'll start spotting them after you've formulated criteria of what to look out for.
I read it after you shared it, but I'm not completely in agreement. I've actually never been in agreement with anything she has written since the last EAT thing. I think it mostly has to do with the relevance of keywords and other content factors. I'm still not sure yet but that's what I can conclude so far from my analysis. If you see anything else worth noting let me know. The more I can find out the quicker I can get to fixing my site. Well, I'd still wait for a few weeks to let things settle.
Anyone else affected by the update? Let me know what your findings are.
What is your visitors rate to click on an affiliate link ? As I've read, you get 300-350 visits per day, and as I see you get 200-250 clicks and 10% conversions in sales, so after doing math. this means, that 100 visitors brings 70 clicks on affiliate links, which results in 7 sales, is that correct ?
great post, i have a new learner question.
if the page with affiliate link is been posted on other place(website not yours), and people click that link and buy on amazon, does amazon give you the commission?
sorry for that, i am new.
Do you put the comparison table right after the 200-word intro or right at the beginning, before the intro?
Is it a top 5 products table or an all products table?
Good luck with regaining the rankings, hopefully the pages will bounce back.
I'm having an opposite experience, one of my (non-affiliate) sites is still completely new and has just a couple of crappy backlinks, most of them are blog comments and spammy stuff from the "link building" section of BHW, but after the update it has suddenly jumped up on a few pretty large volume keywords, from 10th page to 5th page and from 5th page to the 3d page. No first page yet. But it's too early I guess. Although it happened the next day after I installed WP Rocket. So I don't know if it's the update or the speed improvement. And I don't see the logic behind this update. Other sites have risen a bit, but not as much. I haven't had drops in the recent weeks. Aff site is still under construction, so it doesn't rank yet.
Not sure how helpful this will be but ignore what people are saying about the November rollout being due to EAT and other random theories like that. The analytics above is from one of my white hat sites that was pretty much a steady 200 hits per day site although one mid search term page popped onto the first page every now and then to spike the traffic as you can see. Anyway, in the September update it was hit and halfed its organic traffic and people were saying it was due to EAT.
Since then, I have not touched this site, not build backlinks, not tried to speed it up, not changed its plugins, nothing, I have been focusing on a brand new domain and totally expected this site to slowly die. Anyway, I have seen a few people mentioning how this new November update is due to EAT and a few other random theories and I never even checked in on this site to see if it had been hit as I was just pleased that my new site made it through but as you can see, the November update seems to have fixed whatever the September update did to it without me even trying to fix it. In fact, I checked its rank tracker today and since a few hours back it actually has more keywords in the top three then it ever has, even before the September update.
I hope the same thing happens to you in a few weeks and that your site recovers as you seem to be putting a ton of work in but so many people jump on what the latest theory is for these updates and just parrot what they read without knowing what they are on about. I don't see how an EAT update can punish and then recover a domain that has zero authority in its niche. Maybe inaction is the best course for you to take with your site that was hit and just focus on your new site for a few weeks to see what happens in the next roll out.
Will follow this thread! Good luck to you.
Maybe consider working on 2nd (and 3rd site, depending how much it costs, money and timewise to let it make xx usd per day)
money makes money, if it is easier or has a higher chance to make more money or regain money, via an additional site / increase 2nd site. I would focus on that.
now i must say that I'm not clear what your profit and cost is nor your rl financial situation in detail to give any useful advice, take my advice with a grain of salt, calculate things through, factor in risk, what ifs, payoffs, stability and time involved.
there are only 2 things in life, failure and success, as long as you don't give up, you don't know failure, as you are fighting to get results, only giving up makes things a failure. therefore it doesn't matter if things take x days, x.weeks,.x months or x years. You only live once, better going forward or trying to push forward than giving up.
so far best journey I've read in years, can't wait to read more updates to come.
