submitting w9?

I don't know if this should really be here or in the tax section but I got approved for a cpa network and I did the electronic W9 that they had but I talked to an AM and he said I have to fax or scan one and send it to them. I thought that was what the electronic one was for? Should I be suspicious, I don't particularly like giving out my SSN randomly on the internet.

You will be ok if it is a reputable network, like XY7 or Azoogle.

All companies require w8/9 for payments & tax filing.
Am not from the usa so i dont know about the w9, but i can assure you, if its a reputable company you can go ahead
