So, over the last few weeks I decided to run an experiment but I'm not really sure why this happening

I run a website for TV shows, and sometimes they get hit with a DMCA Take Down which removes my website in the serps. Like most others, they put their website on a subdomain of their ranking root domain and 301 redirect to that and usually regain *most* of their ranking. For some reason I keep getting DMCA complaints as do the others and it only lasts about a week before I'm forced to do it again.

With that being said, I decided to try and create a subdirectory inside the domain and put my website in there, and 301 direct to the subdirectory instead, assuming this would allow me to keep the link juice because the URL will be mywebsite.com/episodes (for example) instead of the episodes.mywebsite.com

Theoretically, since google does take down's based on unique URL's not entire domains this should work right? However, I added my website to GWMT about 4 days ago and finally everything is indexed but my website is nowhere to be seen in the serps, what gives?

Theoretically? If a domain is deindexed, its inner pages (what I think you refer to sub directories) are deindexed as well unless I'm understanding the take downs differently.

When you do a manual index check by typing in the search bar "website.com" (including the quotation marks), does it show?

It does show, and the domain is deindexed but some inner pages are linked
