I have a main page targeting a certain keyword that I have an EMD for. I've since added 5 articles that target very specific long tails (that have low CPC, apparently). The problem is that now, in the rankings for my main keyword, one of the long tail-targeting articles shows up instead of my home page. How do I fix it? I got a click today and it was worth a nice 5 cents. Not what I wanted.

You have to build more links with the main keyword you want to rank for to your home page url. Once you do this it will change to the homepage url.

Also make sure on that inner page that you put a link with that keyword as the anchor text back to the root, pass on some of the juice.

Yeah I'm just slightly confused. I haven't built a single backlink to my inner page but I outsourced a small backlink pyramid (2500) to the main page.

    Thanks for the help.

    These will help you:
    - Put backlink to homepage in your website's footer. --> fast
    - If your have some other websites, just do like above. --> fast
    - Continue building backling --> more slow

I don't think this has ot do with backlinks. It's google perceiving how better optimized both your pages are. I find most of my inner pages ranking high on SERP's and while the pages goy a dozen backlinks, with main page having thousands. Get your on page optimization corrected if you want to have the mainpage rank higher.
