I know this question is idiotic and has probably been asked about a million times before, but for the life of me, I simply cannot find the answer on this forum!

    The question is this:
When using Adwords to promote your aff. link, are you allowed to simply use the aff. link as the destination? Or does it make it so that you must have some sort of landing page that leads the viewer to the sales page?

Thanks for spending any time at all on this question, I'm sorry I had to ask >.>

    It is called "direct linking".
    Do a search.

The short answer is, according to google TOS only one advertiser can use a particular destination URL. So if the affiliate company you are promoting is already using adwords, it won't let you link to the same page through an affiliate link.

You can use your affiliate link but you will be competing against all the other advertisers promoting the same end website. It's generally considered better to use your own landing page if you have advertiser competition.

Direct linking is the way. If some one else is already linked with a affiliate link learn ways to beat them (there are a few ways to do this) It will only make you better in the long run. Just my 2 cents.

Hi, check the T&C of the affiliate / merchant regarding directlinking. Some affiliate programs do not allow it whilst some merchants under the affiliate program do not actually mind it.

A good example of this is CJ, technically they do not allow directlinking however and would prefer that you use a landing page of some description.

Read the T&C carefully and if they allow direct linking then go direct linking, why put an extra step in the process if you do not have to? Also, remember that if you use the affiliate link in your adwords then as soon as someone clicks on the link a cookie is set because they are visting the merchant page straight away. The same cannot be said if you link to a landing page.

    Regards
