Don't even comment on how stupid it is lol but...
You know those lottery scratch cards?
You scratch some squares, and if you math all 3 or 5, you get an X amount of $?

... well can't there be some sort of... super bright light or some 'scanner' or soemthing that can see through it?

Like comon.. there has to be...

We can look through metals, walls, water, earth, bones, etc...

FFS, its a piece of cardboard...:D

Even if you could see through them, how would you know which ones to buy? Because nobody selling them is going to let you try and look at them with some kind of strange light devise first before selling them to you.

But whatever ones you do buy you would be able to look at it and scratch the correct squares or whatever so you win. Nothing worse than getting a winning card, but scratching the wrong squares so you lose :p

You'd just have to cut a deal with one of the cashiers to split the take :)

But that still leaves the main problem of finding a device that'd do the job. Chances are good that such a thing would be expensive enough to make it take a long time to break even, especially if you have to do a 50/50 split to gain the advance access you'd need.

As for the illegality, remember that stores usually have CCTV, so if you do anything in plain view you'd basically be busting yourself. Personally I'd look for a locality that has left some loophole in their lottery law to do something like this.

good luck shining a light past multiple layers of opaque acrylic film which is then covered in aluminum paste mixed with acrylic resins a solvent like methyl ethyl ketone.

not to mention there is a layer of false numbers just in case someone somehow could shine something bright enough through.

OP is right about one thing though, this thread is VERY stupid

Instead of wondering whether there is a way to read the numbers of find the shapes, why dont you ask how many people have asked the same question before?!

Imagine the people that actually designed them! They could be quite rich.

OP is thinking ...and it sounds good.

It doesn't take a genius to Understand that an Uncle may Manage or

Own a store ...It's not a matter of buying anything...

It's the fact that Owners buy tickets in large bulk and thus you can

try to see the winning ticket before putting the loosing tickets on display....

Is this to difficult to understand?

What´s easy to understand is actually a device to look through would be a fairly high investment for an average Uncle!

    True...

But some investments take years before they see a profit..

I think this will eventually be made ...

And , I'm willing to invest and wait 5 years to retire .

in NY, the store owner purchases sealed rolls of scratch off tickets. these rolls come with payoff numbers on them. this means that before a roll is even hung up in a deli that the deli owner knows how many winners and for how much money is in each roll.

    a sucker's bet.

but apply that ingenuity and thinking to another area, and go make your fortune.

They still make scratch tickets like that? I know all the ones sold in my state you can see if your a winner without even scratching anything off. You buy your ticket and usually theres a machine right on the counter that scans the bar code on the back of the ticket and tells you if you won or not, therefor it doesnt matter at all what you scratch off.

There's a bit of a system in place here in the U.S. If you take a look at the lower right corner of those cards, there's a serial number. It's usually 3 digits and will be between 000-999.

90% of the winning tickets in each batch are in the first 100 tickets (000-099). The first caveat is that there could be as few as 9 winning tickets in that first sequence. There could also be a high-dollar winning ticket in the 100-999 sequence. The idea is to generate interest in a particular location by grouping most of the winners early on.

Did a little work a few years ago for a company that manages state lottery systems and picked up a few nuggets of wisdom. I'll never play the scratch-offs. It's a losing proposition.
