"A new study shows that video games provide elation much like a drug can. There is so much euphoria and endorphin rush that comes with SOME games that people can become addicted to them. In essence, they get a high. However, like with some drugs, once they are not gaming, their mood and endorphin levels are such that they are more depressed and are less sociable as they WOULD BE if they were not playing the games in a habitual-addictive like manner.

Moreover, the fascination with the video game world makes reality seem all but dull and boring. Thus, for some video game addicts, sitting in front of a screen is more entertaining than conversing with a human. This is likely the cause for lack of social activity in many gamers lives. This lack of social activity is also a probable cause for the higher level of depression statistics."

I don't know how I feel about this dudes, im thinkin, maybe we should only play every once in a while? I mean personally.. some of this stuff is true, and when im not gaming so much.. i just enjoy hangin around my peeps more.

Very true. Everything in our society is made for a purpose. Not good ones thought. Theres evil powerful ppl out there.

Video games, media, music, drugs, non organic food, church, politics, n much more stuff is controlled by this powerful men. Which is making the human race vanish slowly.

While it's true that video games are addicting, many studies have shown that playing them can actually be good for you, however, I don't see how sitting in front of a PC screen all day long can be beneficial to anyone.
Having said that, 4 years ago I would play MMORPG all the time and while it feels like I have wasted a lot of my time, I don't look at it as something bad, as I got to know some new people plus my English improved as time went on. However, I regret not having looked into IM at that time.

I remeber those studies were published during early 80ies for the first time. Why are they running the same studies over and over again when the outcome is always the same?

I don't believe it. I play video games many times and it doesn't impact my social skills or anything. In fact, I met a lot of people through gaming. This is just a false study to try and ban games like their trying to ban guns. You have to realize when the government wants to try and ban or rid of something their is always a negative study, then some sort of real life crisis to prove them right, then they find a great reason to ban it. Its called government control.

I think anything will impact you negatively if you over do it. For example, reading books can be beneficial, but if you neglect other facets of your life in order to read 8-10 hours a day, you will suffer.

I might be quite guilty for "sitting in front of a screen is more entertaining than conversing with a human."
But truth be told even before I was gaming, I was either reading books or watching TV. Yes, I find real life quite boring, but I think it's in my nature (good imagination and s..t) and not really a fault of gaming. If anything, gaming makes me happier.

Let 's see what it really says:

elation: a feeling or state of great joy or pride; exultant gladness; high spirits.

So, video games make you feel great - big news :D

Yes, Sherlock! People get addicted to having fun! Did they actually pay this guy to find out? :D

People who are not having fun are not happy. Yet another magnificent revelation :D

So, what does this tell us about reality? How about instead of paying tax dollars to silly research, we funnel them to making reality better?

    Obvious statement is obvious.

So, let 's see, someone should not have fun because it reduces his participation in activities he finds less fun with. Amazing :D

You 've answered your question. Do what you enjoy most! If you enjoy hanging out with your pals, hoorray! Go do it :)

Not necessarily. What if you are a scientist and you get pleasure by doing that?

There are many people devoted to their work. Just because they are not having fun in a way you and me might find pleasurable, it doesn't mean they are not having fun in their own way. People are different.

Yeah. Honestly who gives a shit about if you're spending the whole day behind your computer? Do what you enjoy! The pure essence and objective of life is to have fun!
