Hi, I have a site in a local niche ranking on the 2nd page already for 3 months, no matter how many links I add or citations it won't advance to the second page, I even added a new 5000 word article in the homepage and removed the old one to see if that was the issue but didn't help, its still stuck on number 12...any help or someone sees different results?

thanks

What does your link diversity look like? Give me an idea of your backlink portfolio. How are you social signals looking? Have you tried doing a small blast on pinterest or twitter to see if the results change? I'm thinking you need some live results.

What does your competitor link on the first page look like?

Have you compared your sites to the top ones, citations and general links plus social? Look at time on site etc too, how old is the domain?

Is the site one of the best sites in your niche for that area. If not then it doesn't matter how many links you throw at it. It's pretty hard to get sub standard sites to rank now.

What about this 5000 word article, that can actually hurt your rankings even more. Is it an information based niche, and do the top 10 sites have that much content on average? If the top 10 sites only have an average of 500 words on their pages then Google is telling you that's what is working at the moment for that niche. If you dump 5000 words on there chances are it will hurt rankings, not help.

How old are all the sites on the first page? Maybe your niche has an average domain age of 8+ years and all of your competitors are well established businesses. What about your anchor text density for your main keyword. What's happening on the first page...do all the top sites have 0% exact match anchors in your niche and your trying to rank with 10%+ exact match ratios?

There are so many variables that come into play so it'll be tough for you to diagnose the issue in a thread like this where no-one can see the actual domain name. Shoot me a p.m. if you want and I'll take a look for you.

Build more and better links, write great content, target longer tail versions and related terms, maybe give up if it's stupidly competitive.

i saw the same thread almost in one week and it has more info. find out

Competitor analyze will help you, check out it. Also, build some quality backlinks from the top authority websites which are relevant to your site niche and you can wait for some time to settle up your backlinks.

Find the most primary keyword of your nice, then build more backlinks in high authority sites and the site has zero spam which is good for ranking.
After that resubmit your site's sitemap to the Google search console.
Also, edit your robot.txt file and make all the links do follow. This helps to index all the pages that your site own.

These steps may help you to raise your rank to the first page of SERP.
Best of luck mate. ;)

There are so many possible reasons why your page hasn't moved up. It can be your:
Content
- Post content that are relevant, high quality and useful to your viewers.
- Make it rich by incorporating it with images, videos, audio, and slideshows
- Make a good formatting on your header tags and keep your content properly constructed.
- Link out to well-respected authority sites.
Page load speed
- Make sure it's fast, mobile friendly and easy to navigate.
Make sure that your webpage is effective, where your visitors can find what they are looking for. The longer they stay on your website the better chance to improve your ranking.
