I wonder my browsers - both IE and Firefox were working like shit lately!

I mean literally. It takes forever to load the webpages. I get multiple times when it pops up that "cannot connect to the page". When I re enter the adress the page loads.

Sometimes it takes as much as 5 minutes to load hotmail.

The most interesting part is when I click on a link on any site in Firefox they just dont load. It just stays frozen there.

Do you have any idea what the fuck is going on? Is something wrong with the computer itself?

I would appreciate any suggestions on this!

sounds like more of a connection problem than a browser problem. are you using dsl, cable or proxies?

The latest version of firefox crashes when you click a link of a website that is down (or at least, the latest version of firefox with a couple plugins I have). 404, 503 and similar pages don't bring up this problem.

Also, go to conection properties and then select IPv4 and configure. Select to automaticaly choose dns servers.

Or it could be your ISP fault. The last one I signed up for some reason blocked my college website , wich led to firefox crashing everytime I needed to access it. The only way I could access was using another ISP (on a cafe). Call them.

I am just suspicious that there might be some processes running that slow down the entire PC not just browsers.

Are any of you aware of any useless crap that might be running on Vista that could be slowing really a lot of things down?

did you try speedtest.net to see what kind of speed you are getting. Also what kind of antivirus you have installed on your computer ? You can also try and run this http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and scan your computer to see if they find anything.

Download Avast Free edition and scan your computer.

    Then try resetting your router,

THEN call your internet provider :)

    Another observation!

When the browser loads the page it freezes! Like half way through. I have to refresh the page to have it load completely on the second time!

This happens one in two pages with IE
