    I am surprised that nobody ever mention anything about long tail keywords and importance of forums.... I can give you 1000s of examples where forum links take half a page in Google search results.... Building forums on my sites was the best in terms of SEO I ever done. Without a forum in this day and age, nobody will be able to achieve as much success in SEO.... Trust me on that. I am the expert :cool:

    Also extremely important factor you missed - SILO.... Without siloing your site, I don't think you can compete with the sites that do silos. By the way forum and sub forum structure is perfect silo....

    @t0mmy Lol. Great writing style.

    I'd love to hire you for some content writing. 500 or 2,537 words, doesn't matter.

    Keep it up!

    Bit late, but just found this post, great information and straight to the point, so much bullshit about SEO that it can be very hard to know which way to go.
    I have a couple of clients who want me to do there SEO and back-linking campain as there old so called SEO expert let them down badly. I am seeing them soon but after reading your post not sure how to approach it, i certainly wont guarantee no.1 on Google but dont want to put them off using my services. Any advice appreciated, as if these succeed i want to expand into doing SEO for clients more seriously but for the long term and want to start off on the right foot!

    Great post. Anyway i don't think that to hide a pbn from crawlers, would be a good idea as you says.

    I am new here and wanted to weigh in on this. I agree with most of this in my experience. I have used keyword searching (as explained in the read first for newbies) and optimizing that as my first line of strategy. I do it for all my site pages and my blog posts. Before I use a keyword, I do a google search and review to see if someone else has optimized it for SEO before I do. If so, I change my keyword phrase. I have also done the following to help get myself ranked higher, many times on page 1 and also above the fold. I have my videos on youtube and post them in a blog on blogger. I also use Medium to re-post my posts from blogger. I also make sure that I use google plus to post the content from my blog on blogger as well as my own website. I post in google plus about 1 per hr. It takes some time, but I notice my pages get ranked now. I also make sure I link to some authority sites in my posts. I found that this works better than creating other sites to link to my site. It takes time, but the rewards are worth it. Just explaining my experience, maybe others may think I am kidding myself.I welcome any feedback, yet this seems to have worked for me. Just saying.

    Good insights. I am finding out that many of my original thoughts on SEO do's and don'ts are obsolete. Thanks!

    greetings

    I wanted so much to refuse the notion that you should not get backlinks from sites that are not relevant to you or place your link next to other businesses that have nothing to do with your business, that I have lost my ranking to competitors, who got tons of spammy backlinks and have made it to the top of google ranking.

    in june 2016, would like to get this groups take on buying backlinks? has google done anything in their latest algorithm update, which would make you think twice about buying links?
