I built some web2.0 with content from webarchive. The sites were almost likely penalized and deindexed back then. I dont know that for sure but they have a spammy backlink profile and were obviously used for SEO purposes before.

The web2.0 were indexed fast and even rank for some easy keywords. Would you use these web2.0 to link to your moneysite or is it risky because the content is somehow red-flagged because of the history?

I heard that there is some kind of "historic google index".

You don't get deindexed for spammy backlinks.

If the site was removed for pure spam or thin content, then no, it would not be smart to put the content on your own site.

Why? The content got indexed and ranks. What exactly is the risk?

You're putting penalized content on your own site. Don't you think that's a bad idea? That's assuming the sites were actually penalized.

    Wrong.

I think I need to be more specific: Let's say there is really a 'historic google index' where the old content of deindexed websites is stored.

How does G like sites using content from this historic index? How does G like sites which get backlinks from sites using this content?

Google does indeed have a long memory. Removed from search results doesn't mean removed from the index even though we call it "deindexed."

You said "The sites were almost likely penalized and deindexed back then" so your'e the one asserting that the site was penalized. If it was indeed penalized based on content, putting that content on your site is a bad idea.

If you link to your sites from those sites and Google picks up that you're spamming their index with your own sites, then yes, your main site could indeed receive manual action. They could also devalue the site's link value.

thats sound logic but is very vague and theoretical. The content ranks what proves that G does like it at least to some extent.

Does anybody have experiences here with ranking with content from webarchive? Ever got any penalty etc?

It's not theoretical. I'm telling you how it works. Do what you will though.

So you have built sites with content from webarchive and they were penalized. Is that correct?
