I am starting a new blog in weight loss niche. My idea is to write posts like a person journey to loss extra pounds.. Like day 1 - blah, blah, blah,... day 2 - blah, blah, blah...

The problem is in images.. I want blog to be viewed as a real thing.. i found some videos on youtube of people taking pictures of themselfs for like 24 weeks. Exectly what I need:)

I know this is not "legal" to steal their identity and make it appear on the site it is me on pictures.

What are the chances for me to get cought?
    What are the consequences?

    Thanks for help:eek:

the owner might file a case on you about copyright infringement since you're not the owner of the pics

Thanks for reply guys. Really appreciate it.

Maybe I could photoshop the image or chop their head off? I know there is a like tons of picture on weight loss programs, for which I doubt they are "original".

I really need pictures of fat people for this project hehe:p

You can actually use Google images on your blog!
Just select "free to use and share" option in the advanced settings tab!

    Cheers!

No, don't steal images. Go search for "Royalty Free Stock Photos" on search engines, they are safe to use.

"Chances" of getting caught may be "slim", but why be the person that gets pinged for it?

What if they decide to make an example out of you, instead of the thousands of other ppl who do it?

Not worth it. Use websites like pixabay and be clever in your search. Edit those pictures as needed and you'll be OK.

Be smart. Remember, you're running a business, not just a website.

Getting royalty free images is a good idea. Try and find pictures of similar looking people body wise and cut out the face. People look different after loosing weight and tons of weight loss programs start out using pictures people looking their worse in too tight clothing only to take "after" photos of the people in more flattering clothing who are spruced up.

A lot of your audience are not going to be overly skeptical or suspicios of your cropped progression photos. They want to believe in a success story and will understand your personas unwillingness to show a face or put on the same fat clothes in each picture.

You can either use royalty free images or buy some stock photos and use it for your promotional purposes.

Whatever you do, make damned sure you don't use any images that are owned by Getty Images. They find pretty much everyone and unless things have changed, they almost always issue a C&S along with a demand for payment.

If you're using personal images that you've found online it's not going to be an issue but there is the "moral" dilemna of using someone's pics

Just out of interest.. how do these copyright cases work across borders in reality?

I mean e.g. if OP is from say, Norway, and he will do a copyright infringement using pics from a Youtube video from someone from e.g. the US. So firstly how can the person even get OP's personal details if he is using Whois protection etc. and how would making a case against someone work like this across continents?

hosting/service abuse dept. or DMCA is typically enough. One asshole copied whole site and put it on some obscure cloud hosting - took one month and few emails and it went down.

As for individual pics - if you're on web2.0, they usually just delete your account after first cry "omg, this dude just copies my content!" without major investigation :D, if it's on paid hosting - you get nice notification that kindly asks you to remove content from your website, failure to comply = termination. Then there is Google that exclude certain pages from serps: http://prntscr.com/84h9fr

As for original topic starter - I would suggest going with something real (or pick something behind iron curtain like Russia) because that niche is not that big and chances are, people who search that topic have probably seen all the popular "before and after" pics there are and would result in crappy CTR anyway.

+1 against using getty images for this. they have a nasty reputation. even legit bloggers who are honest gets targeted.

I would also advise against doing this. You're always gonna be looking over your shoulder. But if you really want to do this, here's my suggestion.

    0. make sure it's worth it. weight the profit vs the trouble because it's gonna take a while to cover your tracks.
    1. setup a fake verified paypal account. there are sellers here. I am not one of them.
    2. get bulletproof hosting and domain - those who encourage you to use bitcoin and tor when purchasing so that even if they are required by law to give your info, they can't. there are sellers for that too. I am not one of them.
    3. get a network that doesn't pay in check. i prefer paypal ( I know, a lot of us hate paypal, i got banned before too)

so you get the idea. set up your site in such a way that no one can find you through hosting and domain provider.
then make your site and when you get paid, purchase bitcoin and cash out. there are several versions of how to do this but you get the idea.

needless to say, if nobody looks for you, the above measures are useless. but if you live in a country where you can get in deep sith for this, you'd want to stay as safe as possible.

    or just use legit images.

yes. i have used this strategy before. I do not *cough* *cough* launder money.
