Who are the owners of these site? Thank you!
I'm sorry, but at the same time not surprised. Their horrendous reputation precedes them. As for legal action, highly unlikely, a 100 bucks isn't really worth fighting over, unless 50 other freelances actually get out of their homes, spend the mental and physical effort to start a class action lawsuit of some kind. What I would advise is to carefully save all of the information and evidence you have posted here, just in case such a lawsuit occurs in the future. Your 100 bucks could turn to a 1000 just by doing that much, and following the news.
I wish you the best of luck with restarting your writing career on a better platform, or completely independently for that matter. If the original client was satisfied, I hope you got in touch with him outside of the site so you can do further work with him in the future too.
Freelancers should not reply on any of the freelance websites be it UpWork, Freelancer.com or any other website. Register a dot com domain, and offer your service here at BHW.
Good Luck for your future.
thanks for sharing your story with us but you should not forget your hard-earned money. Just message them again and again until they provide your money and once you receive the money say goodbye to them. But in general most of the freelancing sites are always sh*t for working
@USA282 im not sure bro if you can take legal action but you can try to contact them via the email you will get better support i believe
dont you have safe account in that?
Fucking criminals, the lot of them. All those little middle-man shit sites and GayPal -- criminal organizations operating as legitimate businesses, hiding behind giant teams of lawyers and legal loopholes.
Sadly, you are unlikely to make a difference in their practices. You MAY be able to get your earnings, if you press hard enough over a long period of time and annoy enough of their employees to make it more sensible for them to just give you the money and stop the onslaught.
I have to propose a different path however. Ask yourself honestly, "how long could it take to get that $100?" and "How long have I lost already, repeated withdrawal waiting times, constant stress, time writing correspondence?"
Then ask yourself, what could you accomplish in just one full 8 hour period instead, if you just cut your losses and looked forward to the future?
How many articles could you write in a day? I would advise that if you could write enough articles to even earn $50 in a day, then you might want to just say "fuck it" and consider this a lesson to stay away from these fuckface platforms.
I know its rough to let it go, and in your position I would also want to crush the motherfuckers and get what I worked hard for. And I also understand it is not always easy to find clients to earn that $50 or $100 worth of articles. But its a hell of a lot better for your mind state and your heart to just throw that crap to the wind and focus on the positive, moving yourself forward, leaving toxicity behind.
Perhaps consider what a few of the respondents above suggested -- maybe write for BHW a bit. Perhaps some of the members would be happy to offer you work after knowing what your situation is.
Best of luck!
I dont understand
Yeah Freelancer is bad and smells miles of scam.. i have read similar stories many times.
Wow, worse than Paypal. I contemplated using it, but their KYC is a little overbearing.
this freelancer is just another big scammer......read old stories in google ...there is a lot people to be scammed
next time before work, google first sitename +scammed!
Freelancer.com is shit. They robbed me of $300 when I first started on their platform.
I successfully finished a job and when I got paid, the client account was suspended and all funds I received were removed.
Quite annoying, what a shitty platform that can't hold and verify a payment from a client and had to wait until I was fully done with the job to deactivate the client.
Sorry, I'm sorry about what happened to you. But this is the experience of your life, is your precious wealth, learn from the lessons you will not be so easy to be deceived in the future. I hope you can start your writing career again on a better platform. Good luck
I have a few similar stories regarding Freelancer, that I don't want to share. This includes me and a few employers of mine. Customer Support used to be good in the past, but now is worst than ever. They even outsource Support, and I have to say that for a Australian business, their English is not so English. Many mistakes in writting and even no attention to details from their employees. As a future advice to anyone that wants to work there or hire someone. I'd suggest you get the KYC procedure done before you do anything, as this will delay payments.
Freelancer is worst for buyers as well.
Indeed, I`ve been scammed for 800 USD legally there ~1 year ago.
I ask for a custom back end, he put 20 bucks ready-made script from CodeCanyon and change the CSS a bit. The job was done by the Freelancer.com point of view.
For me PayPal and Freelancer.com are worst nightmares, you just don`t waste money, but time, which for me it`s very important, instead of raging at each other for 3 weeks explaining to them how stupid they are, I prefer to give up and let it go, lesson learned.
Same for PayPal, almost ruined my new business second month keeping some k`s on hold because why not.
I want account rent.It is long term.
