Purchasing hosting and purchasing domains should be two different processes done at different companies. I guess you learned that by now.

because most of the times the domain is on their name and not on yours. And the trouble comes when you decide to move out of the hosting company to elsewhere..

Even if the domain is on your name, hosting companies` main business is to sell hosting, the domain service is just an addon sales pitch option, and their service about it will never match the service any decent and established registrar company will provide. Just like webhosting from domain registars suck, the same the other way around..

well, i don't like to recommend a registrar in particular, because there are horror stories about all of them. For 10 years i am using actively Godaddy and never had and a single problem. Since 3 years started using and Namecheap and don't have any issues as well. So i am happy with these two, but its up to your if you wanna try them out or go elsewhere

I also have used GoDaddy and have had no problems so I'll keep using them and possibly give Namecheap a try. Thanks for stating your experiences with both companies, I won't go bitching to you if something goes wrong though don't worry haha :p
