They froze my domain and asked for a KYC verification ID, lost my domain over a few months

Stay away from namecheap and spaceship! I guess, I'll have to take a look at domain registration without a KYC

Wait KYC is the reason you want to stay away?
it's good reason. One of the best actually. Nowadays every company and their pets want to know everything about you, we're 1 step away from global digital ID implementation and if this happens you will get to experience first hand what total surveillance and control over the people means.

Besides, KYC means the company collects your data and can (and most of the time WILL) sell it to insurance companies or the government without your consent and without you getting anything out of it. If this total rape doesn't bother you I don't know what else to say other than you're probably not awake (too few people are awake unfortunately, the rest of us have been successfully cucked by big tech and Western governments to say YES to everything they demand, whenever they demand it)

Anyway, KYC is one of the biggest evils of modern society. Thanks for the heads-up @Annaisha . Try Namesilo, I've been with them for over a decade and never was asked once to show ID, although I can't guarantee they won't do it to you, I've heard some people saying they've gone downhill too (for me they're still OK, though...)

Well, don't know why namecheap needed KYC from you been using them and GoDaddy for more than a decade no IDs required.

No longer using GoDaddy that much but still have a working account.

So check why it happened or what raised the red flag for the need for KYC.

I have two domains currently active on Spaceship for more than a year but never faced any problems with them. They never asked for any KYC either. Could it be because of some suspicious activity or maybe due to your region (they might ask KYC from users of a certain country to follow the laws or something)

In any case, I think I should look more into this since those two domains are really important

You mean you registered a domain amd they asked you for kyc right away or they waited for a few days/weeks?
I have tons of different accounts with namecheap and they never asked for anything.
But yeah I totally agree with you about kyc it's a scandal almost every company asking for this now, some even ask for a pic of yourself holding a sign. These companies could easily be hacked and our data stolen to serve as identity usurpation.
Good luck though.

Namecheap has good support.
Nope,

I use web.z.com domain registration now

I agree with you, namesilo had no issue with me for several years, and I am happy with namesilo

Correct, because my domain is a forum for anime and games modding community trackers and downloads, which is already been reported by the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) a long time ago

I used to have namesilo & njal for domain registration and had no issue in my experience

Namecheap has gone downhill though.

Their support is good and prices are decent, but they engage in some shady practices like buying up https://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/124pf8n/confirmed_namecheap_is_holding_onto_domains/ after ~72 hours.
That’s not good..

Use nicenic;)
is a Bulletproof Domain Service
From Hong Kong (DMCA Bulletproof etc)
Accept usdt
What do you suggest domain extension?

Mine using web.z.com now, will move to nicenic later when transfer is unlocked again

i have domains in both spaceship and namecheap and was never asked for KYC
Very oddly

there have been forum members whose domains have been stolen by njal.al, so I would say move out of them while you can. You can try shinjiru or flokinet, apparently these are the 2 go-to offshore hosters for grey hat stuff nowadays...

Shinjiru are good, i will move to this or nicenic when my transfer domain is available again.

But i am using web.z.com now. But they told me that host was based in Japan. I am worried so

I've been using Hostinger, pretty good i must say. They do not require KYC. From my knowledge. Also a lot of people are switching to it. GoDaddy is another suggestion but they're expensive. And highly regulated

.cc / .org is good was

Tpb have a .org Domain
.cc are controlled by Verisign
.org is one Public Interest Registry

Any extension that shouldn't be controlled by the US and European Union, Verisign

Spaceship are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Namecheap, Inc.
