I purchased a standard Windows based hosting program and 2 domains from w3.ccihosting.com last week.
From day one, the hosting was very slow and my sites would not come up very quickly. The 2nd day my hosting was down for several hours, and every day until today my hosting was down about every other hour for 15-30 mins each time.
Keep in mind, all these problems were BEFORE ever even distributing my domain or using it largely, so there was nearly zero traffic through my domains.
Well, today I started a support ticket telling them that my hosting kept going down constantly and was very slow. Here is the response I got:
Dear Client,
Today we have received a massive DDoS Attack that was directed to the the IP address: xxxxxxxxxxx . After a lot of tests we found that your domain name recently added xxxxxxxxxxxxx was the problem.
Looks like your site was under Attack, and was affecting all our network.
For this reason we proceeded to turn Off your account and suspended it.
So I guess I'm SOL and out of the money I paid them. Luckily I used a credit card instead of what they wanted me to use, Paypal, so I can file a chargeback.
