    Hello

95% of the time when I install WP I use it as a static website, pages, no posts, use a menu, etc.
But I'm creating a new site and want to do both. I don't want the blog posts on the front page though, or if I do, I'm thinking maybe a small blurb somewhere, maybe like "latest from the blog" and use the headline and one or two sentences.

Is there a way I can do that? Would it be easier to maybe just install wordpress twice?
Like have the static site off the main domain, then install another version for say /blog/, and just feed it somehow to the main page?
Or is there a better way?

    Thanks.

Hi, if you want a static front page you can go to "Settings" - "Reading" and in "Front page Displays" just choose "a static page" and pick the page you want as front page. The blog posts will appear in the menus.

Well you can install only one WordPress and for front page you can make a page and select it as static from Settings / Reading

when it comes to showing latest posts if your theme have any widgets to place on home page /Sidebar / Footer you can easily drag and drop latest / Recent posts in the widgets

for the blog you can have archives page / blog page set up

Set your homepage as static as explained above.

Create a Page called 'Blog' and then go to Customize and there is an option for 'Posts Page' - in the dropdown menu select the 'Blog' page you created earlier.

All the posts should then appear on that page. The theme could well have different layouts for blog pages.

That's how I do it anyhow.

Oh, and there is a plugin that can pull recent posts to a page (you can define the number).

Can't recall the name of it but if you get stuck I'll look it out for you.

    Thanks for all the replies.
I think I was overthinking what I needed. I understand it now.
    Thanks.
