Hey guys...

Im a blackhatter from Africa. Ive been in this IM business for a long time...everything has only recently started clicking for me. (Thank you BHW)

Now...Im looking to capitalize on "online marketing" as a whole in my country.
It's literally non existent.

Internet is just picking up...and people are finally getting online so to speak.

I have access to extensive media in my country...so promoting websites offline is relatively easier.

I want to know what you guys think would work in my country....as an online startup.

Heres what im already considering.

1) Setting up a local blog site similar to blogger.com... I wanted to have this on a more professional scale. I could easily get know ceo's and professionals to startup a blog..and then use that as branding/advertising...easily getting hundreds of "new" bloggers. (Earning of adsense/private advertisements)

2) Lead capture websites. This would involve lots of different setups...like offering free reports .. or free sms....in return for email collection. This would be promoted through Facebook accounts as well as offline media. (Earning through private advert mailings for large corporations)

3) teaching online marketing. I have no exact plan for this as yet...but I might consider doing seminars on IM at a later point.(Im still doin ACCA for now as well as offline advertising)

I am not considering Social networking sites for now.

Just a crazy thought... are there any cpa offers for international people?...stuff that do not require Credit cards....omg if there is ...I could do massive offline promotions for em...lol

Your ideas appreciated.....

You know that I'm in Brazil and I have some ideas of developing things here, because it's not so underdeveloped as it is in your country, but here we have 1% of internet development that US and English internet has.

Maybe we could share some ideas into that.. but it's different situations.

Well...It's not so underdeveloped.... We've got a good online presence...its just underdeveloped in terms of websites catering to the local market.
Thats where I hope to capitalize on.

Davioli, I notice you said you were from Africa...

Are you the one sending me those scam emails? ;)

You could always create a Pirate of the Week site...

:)..lol
Naah....Im not from Nigeria...Those bas***s are ruining Africa's friggin reputation!

I was in benin and burcina faso this year and they didnt seem to big on pc's apart from 2 cyber cafe's..... didnt really think there was much market there

Well... We already have a few social networks.... so there is a little bit of growth...but nothing much apart from that. We have moved on from cyber cafe's now... internet access is dead cheap. for the past decade our govt removed taxes on pc importation so that has helped improve IT here...(very rare for an African country to think wisely...but ow well ours did..lol)

I think you just answered your own question. I'd go to the local market and ask them what they want. You could start your own development/seo/advertising shop in a week.

Although much of the market has been saturated here in the US with knock-offs of every good idea, in a lesser IM developed area, I'd just copy something that has been done. Something like citysearch.com is pretty popular where I live and may be something to consider.

Africa is big place
Online how to
Grow food
Care for live stock
Breed for live stock
Pipe water
Store water

Bottom line what do the people need most to help them self?s give them that and feed your self from the companies adds on the pages

dude, africa is not a country first of all. im from south africa and online marketing is huge here

I was wondering the same, Cos i have been to south africa myself and from what i see online they have quite an online presence.

So before anyone can really help you with good suggestions we need to know what part of africa you are from and not the part you are not from.

Thanks

Karen

@eskimo
lol... its not as developed as South Africa...Im in the East...

@bobfrapples
The SEO idea seems good. I could get an online ad agency sorta thing started...with a pro look and then approach some large corps for handling their "online marketing" needs.

What other ideas would you have in terms of owning a "web property" something that would grow over time.

Cheap labor in Africa = definitely... but... its still a lil far from what's needed to provide quality outsourcing services.
Maybe I can get a team setup to provide manual services... something like account creation etc... but i think the Indians have pretty much got tat covered..lol :)

africa is an untapped market in a lot of ways, people aren't familiar with lots of the "tricks", but the problem is the market is much smaller. It's rad working from South Africa though, because you get paid in $ which converts to decent money in our crappy currency!

True ..the market is much smaller.... BUT...It will expand, not as rapidly as US did a decade or so ago...but it will happen eventually. I just feel that its important to start something good at this point of the "curve". There's literally no competition for so many things that its blowing my mind!

lol yeah the Indians have it all mostly covered, but what I'm suggesting is providing a much cheaper service, such as article rewriting, if you can manage to lower the price down to or under .50$ per 300-500 word article with
decent quality.. you'll have my money lol.

lol... trust me ...If i do get some people checking out grammar and stuff for me... Its so much more easier to sell articles for more than .50... Many forums can get you decent customers at prices of $4...and more. I did that when I first started out in IM...

Ive seen all the hype about AC here...its all good.... but you can so easily get articles for .50 from bhw...and sell em over at "other" forums for more than $4 and get paid immediately.

Ow well..im getting off topic. I will do some more research into outsourcing like you've suggested...

I've thought of making a printable coupon/special offer kinda site....just got the idea a minute ago. Writing stuff about it down as I research on it.

(Another thing Ive seen many people lack...write down all ideas and research you do in small notepad files ... coz you'll always keep forgetting old ideas as time goes...leading to no implementation!)

I was thinking of starting an online news website...coz here local news comes fastest from newspapers. I can get a few people rewriting news stories each day so that my news site is up to date!
Maybe people will buy less newspapers...lol

After a while I can scale it up and maybe start a whole portal sorta thing..

What do you guys think....any more ideas?....
