    Welcome,

I'm making this thread to keep you posted on how I progress with my new business venture. About two weeks ago I decided that I would start up my business by offering online reputation repair and management.

I had read about many others following in the footsteps of '7878' but never paid much attention to it. However, as I did not have any other competing idea or business to get into, I thought I would give this a solid shot. If it doesn't work out for me, I will look at offering a different service or product down the track.

    Some background:

I am still enrolled at University and have a full year left at a full-time rate. I also sell regularly on eBay but am looking to get out of that and build my own brand and business. I will try and not let these interrupt progress in this business.

In the past two weeks I have been doing as much reading as I can about reputation repair and management. I have a fair understanding of what may be required of me. I do not yet have all the solutions to all potential problems I may come across, but I am confident I will be able to handle most scenarios I will come across.

As of 28/01/2014 I am quickly designing a webpage for my business. It is going to be a simple one page design (in many ways like a typical landing page). I am also currently working on the design of the review funnel website which you are probably familiar with at this stage. I am going to try and knock out my business webpage and the review funnel site within a couple of days.

On 01/02/2014 I am going to be leaving for a 1 week holiday, but I plan on having the webpage for my business, review funnel webpage and postcard design all completed by then. If all goes well, I will also have some mail sent out to prospects before departing for my short vacation. I will obviously not be answering phone calls while on holiday, but will find a professional phone answering service and have the receptionist take all information from inbound calls and then I will follow up when convenient.

Posting this mostly to ensure I don't give up prematurely! Ask questions or share information and ideas relating to reputation repair and management if you feel they fit the discussion.

    Cheers!

Good luck. When starting a new consulting business, it helps to already have a client to get the ball rolling.

Have just about finished with the review funnel website. My business website is also done. Postcard design not done but will wait till I have some hot leads or a client signed to get the design done.

Need to find a phone answering service (found a few, just need to decide) and then find some prospects and send them some mail!

Made it just in time with some letters sent out to prospects! Those things take a lot longer than I had anticipated. Because I was short on time and just wanted to get something out into the mail while I was away, I had to cut some corners.

I did not use lumpy mail. The letters were addressed to the company name, not the owner as I did not have time to call them up and ask for the owners name. The review printout showing their bad reviews was just printed out and not annotated. I really didn't have time to customise it with their name and annotations. The letters took long enough to do as it is, was up till about 3AM.

Anyway, I have a call tracking number in the letter so I'll measure response rates compared to a more customised mail out in the future and see how they stack up against each other. Small sample size of 30 letters for now. They won't get mailed till Monday, so over the weekend I'll organise to get a virtual receptionist to start taking my phone calls and scheduling a phone meeting.

    Will keep you posted.

He took a holiday, and he did not even start his business yet ... speaks for itself.
