Starting off lwith ink building

I am new to SEO but have been reading a lot for the past couple of weeks. But the more I read the more it seems google wants to make it harder and harder to do link building for your website.

What are fair white hat ways that we can still use to build links to new website without any back links? I would like to get to PR2 in 3-4 months.

I suggest that you write good content that people will want to link to. Submit your content to social media sites, don't forget to maintain customer engagement and basically forget the concept of SEO. My point is, trying to manipulate Google and trying to do everything at one can be too much for you. Do it slowly and make it look as natural as possible.

Look into squids, they're great for building ink.

This is exactly the conclusion I came to, that google doesnt want you to do SEO at all and that we should focus on natural growth and natural links. But it has been working too well for me, I have hardly any back links and Im at PR0 for over a year. I have been using Social media but links posted there dont really count I guess.

What is squids? can you please provide some info about it?

Focus more upon social media marketing and give useful content to interested group of people. The more viral your content gets, the better your chances of getting natural links.

Hmm yea social media seems to be the most popular way of natural marketing these days. But I guess it can take over a year to build enough natural links to get to even PR1

one of the keys I learned is to help other webmasters. If you know your target try to help other webmasters to make their website better and hopefully get a link for it. What it can be depends on your skills and what the website need to improve.
