So hey, as the title states, I'm in a position to to start as social media manager for a DJ company here in USA. This company is suffering financially as it doesn't even have a facebook page for it's business nor any other social media outlets. It has a professionally designed website.

I'm not super new to this, but it's doesn't seem to be more than creating accounts at different sites and updating with new content semi-regularly.

For the folks better at this than I, what sites are essential to list on?

    1. facebook fanpage
    2. Youtube Channel
    3. Google +
    4. google places listing
    5. Twitter
    6. LinkedIN
    7. Tagged.com
    9. Weddingwire.com
    10. thebestchicagoweddings.com

Thats just what I have from a few minutes work.

Anything else I should know going into this? The proposed pay is around $50 a week for this.

    Thanks for reading

Idk for the amount of work you would put into doing this for this DJ company you could probable make way more than $50 a week. I wouldn't put too much time into doing this for the company unless they are friends or something. But you can do whatever you want im just throwing that out there. If you spend 5 hours a week for them that is $10/ hour so keep that in mind. On the other hand if they came out of there financial situation and got really big and kept you as a social media manager than you would be gold.

yeah, it's actually the company that dj'd our wedding and they are closest family friends. So while I'm not trying to rake in the cash, I'm treating this as a "paid internship" to gain experience and hopefully generate some referrals.

    Thanks for your view

Find a list of larger social networks, make a couple of posts on each social network every day (you could always repeat them across networks) and you should be fine. Possibly even buy fake fans/followers to help with the reputation of the company.

It would make your life much easier if you were to link social networks together such that if you post on one it automatically posts on the others. I know there are a few services out there that do that but I can't think of any at the moment.

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts. I'll look for a "social media aggregator" There has to be something like that.

    or social media "tubemogul"

For $50/week yes its probably just a matter of setting up the accounts and making a couple relevant updates every day to a few of the accounts. Normally though you need to actually interact with the other users on social media closely to build a relationship.
