    Hey my name is Breakk,

I will not bore you with some personal trivia instead I will get straight to the point.

I am building an authority website. My experience is next to null, but I have been doing a lot of reading in the last two months and established a small niche website, in a unprofitable niche, but I enjoy running it. Now I want to use the knowledge I have gained so far and convert it to a more profitable project. A writer/graphic designer friend of mine is joining me in this conquest.

The website will made with Wordpress

    Our plan consists of:

    Keyword Research

I am using Longtailpro, Market Samurai, Keywordshitter, and Google Adwords to analyze potential keywords.

    Content

Me and my friend will be writing all of our own content as we are unable to pay decent writers, or attract upcoming writers that seek to build portfolio. We will use the SEO yoast plug in to guide us a bit through the keyword density and all, but we will mostly be focusing on creating shareable, quality, useful content to boost visitor retention. We are also considering creating small PDF's, Mp3's, Videos, Spreadsheets and other files that compliment some of our articles and lock them with a social locker plug-in. A strong call to action will be find in each post, whether it is to share, subscribe, buy, or comment.

We are attempting a sort of silo structure with plenty of backlinking to related content. We are also using Yet Another Related Posts Plugin at the end of each post.

    Parasites

I have setup a small amount of parasites to direct more traffic to our website they consist of: Youtube, Tumblr, Wordpress, Facebook, Twitter, and blogspot/blogger.
On our main website we will have the NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster that will automatically post excerpts with a link to our parasites, except for youtube.
When we start link building we will build links to our parasites as well as they are easy to rank, and will hopefully be able to increase our traffic. The youtube, Facebook, and Twitter pages will also include unique content (latest news in my niche, user engagement, etc), but the blogger, wordpress and Tumblr will be on auto-pilot.

    Social Media

    Facebook.
    • Drip in content and age
    • Buy real likes to create authority
    • Run a carefully thought out facebook campaign with a $100.00 Coupon
    • Continue to post good content, and engage with audience
    • Post on Niche-related pages, to build relationships and jack followers
    • Later down the line we can run contests, and other promotional stuff

    Twitter.
    • Drip in content and age
    • Buy fake or real likes to create authority
    • use unfollow to amass followers (I have already successfully done this in the past)
    • Continue to post good content and engage with audience
    • Retweet and respond to big names in our niche to get them familiar with our name, so we can maybe work with them later

    Google+
    • Join related communities and interact with people
    • We're prioritizing facebook and twitter for our niche

    Pinterest
    • The general pin stuff, like stuff, comment stuff, join groupboards

    Link Building

We are hoping to start link building when we reach around 20 money articles with at least 10 filler articles.
We will be using Link Emperor with the following settings:

    1. Soldier plan $147
    2. 20% Exact Keyword/brandname/website URL, 25% Keyword/brandname+prefix, 55% Random anchortext
    3. 90% Buffer links, 10% Direct links
    4. High Quality Direct links (Blog posts, Web 2.0 creation, video submission, Press releases, social bookmarking)
    5. Lower Quality Buffer links (Wiki submissions, forum profiles, blog commenting, social bookmarking)
    6. Use all 500 Keywords spread over 25 Targets (20 keywords per target)
    7. Parasite Targets: Youtube, Facebook Page, Wordpress, Tumblr, Twitter

The keywords or anchor text will also contain our brandname and sitename a lot, instead of actual moneykeywords. This will ensure natural anchor text diversity.
Because like I've said I am very new to this whole SEO thing, I would like some feedback on this whole linkemperor/Linkbuilding thing.

    Monetizing

Adsense and affiliate links (reviews, top 10s, etc)
I am currently looking at clickbank products and other ways to monetize because I don't really like the idea of adsense. (takes half our money and banhappy)

    To summarize

    • Creating a lot of quality (not just unique, I will create useful, well written quality content)
    • Creating parasites (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Tumblr, Wordpress, Blogger)
    • Create and manage social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest).
    • Setting up a silo structure within the website
    • Building links to those articles and parasites
    • Monetize with affiliate marketing and adsense at first. I will have to do more research on monetizing.
    • Investing all the money made back into the website for more content, links, design, etc

    Where are we now?

    We bought the domain yesterday.

    So far we have done

    • setup desired theme
    • Installed all 13 needed plug-ins
    • setup google/bing webmaster, Alexa, google analytics accounts
    • Created the social media and para sites
    • Created legal, about us and contact pages
    • Found about 10 low competitive longtail keywords to target
    • Divived workflow amongst each other
    • Plan all this stuff out lol (That took the most time)
At the moment I am in the midst of my exams, but I should be capable to write a good article every two days. We are aiming to drip in 2 articles a day until January first where we will start looking to take on voluntary writers that want to build portfolio.

I learned most of the stuff here from Journey threads, thought I would continue the trend.

Also it will allow people to tell me if I am doing something wrong, as I am just two months into this whole new world.

Thanks for wishing me luck guys :)

Sounds like a solid plan, I am in the process of doing the same thing as you - except I am about 2 months ahead of you. I've noticed when you are starting out, building a solid social background can be really difficult on twitter and G+ (for me at least). I interact a lot on facebook and twitter, but I need to start building more into G+ as it can have a big effect on rankings.

My suggestion to you is to gear yourself up toward sales. Start building up an e-mail list by offering them a free e-book or download that will benefit them. Ninja Popups is a great plugin you can use for this.

My second suggestion is to create your own product. I am in the process of creating a few e-books to sell as a pack once the timing is right. I am currently on page 2 or so for all my main keywords (and page 1 for a few), but most of my traffic comes from social networks at the moment (about 1200-2500 uniques a day).

Keep at it, continuously post useful content, and people will come to you.

P.S. I had much more success creating a facebook group (I created it only a few days ago and it now has 230 active and targeted members), than I did with my facebook page. They all interact with each other and it's a great way to have more people get interested about your website.

Keep us updated on your journey!

nice to see your Journey. i started my authority page project over a month ago but i am kinda slow but steady.
i will follow you to get some insights about your strategy since i am doing a very similar thing.

im curious how your ranking is working. Since its my first IM Project ever i want to do all the SEO by myself to learn as much as possible. Basically i do everything by my self except article writing.
I would also love to read a bit more about the ranking of your parasite sites in compare to your actual money site.

    regards okidoky

    Update

First of all thanks to all the people wishing us luck. We're very excited and a bit nervous, it's nice to have a little motivation and support. :)

I have looked at my first reports from Link Emperor on a test domain, and I have become doubtful of the link Quality. They are fine to point at our parasites, but I don't think they cut the quality standard for our money page, especially not directly in the first month.

This being my fist authority website I am very hesitant about building high volume, low quality links to it. For now we'd rather play it safe and read up somewhat more on black link building. Social media should be enough to drive our first waves of traffic.

Furthermore we have been writing quality evergreen articles within our niche, and are getting ready to supplement them with self created images to start dripping the posts in starting from December 1st.

I have started compiling a list of Affiliate programs in our niche, we're planning to sign up for all of those to have a range of diversity of advertisements, so we can target certain pages and posts specifically with more relevant ads. We will be using google adsense, while waiting to be approved for the other programs.

Lastly, I would like to ask if anyone has any suggestions for our link building. Link Emperor looks good because it is very customizable, but its hard to say if the negative reviews they get is from people not using the program properly, or because link building has become a very delicate concept that can't be automated anymore on websites that are intended to stick around.

Thanks for the Ninja Pop up suggestion, writing an e-book also sounds like a great idea that I might delve into. Right now I am mostly focusing on writing articles because having actual content on the website seems like the most important factor. When we reach around 100-200 posts I will look into writing a good ebook, however, right now I have the holidays, exams, and a three week trip to Europe coming up. (yes an amazing time to start such a large project).

Social Media will be my secondary focus because of what you said with the targeted audience, I am hoping that the 100 dollar facebook coupon can make up for a nice kick start. Do you have a Journey thread of your own? I am curious to see how other people doing similar things as myself fare.

I don't have a journey thread as it's my own experiment and want to get footing on things before I start a real journey. The things I mentioned were just tips - to be carried out at any time. My niche is not profitable from adsense, so sales is going to have to be my driving force, but I am only geared up toward sales, not actually trying to make any yet.

Best of luck to you though!

    Update

Today we're starting to feed posts in. I have 4 posts ready between 600-1500 words with supporting images and youtube videos. The plan is to drip in 1 post per day to January, making for a minimum of 62 posts between us two for the whole month.

I placed the adsense advertisements on the website.
    One Leaderboard in the header
One medium square in content upper left corner
One banner on the bottom in between author and comments

I am saving the sidebar for sponsor/affiliate advertisements.

hm also our logo is done

Social media is still being aged with some random posts to make them look natural before I buy followers

I decided to go with Link Emperor and use a conservative campaign setup.

I am helping someone else with building up two micro niche websites starting this tuesday to make some extra money to fund this authority website. I want some High PR backlinks, and to buy content instead of writing everything.

Good luck man! It sounds like you have all your ducks in row.

I came across your thread while searching for more reviews on Link Emperor. It looks very promising, but nobody talks about it here. Kinda weird.

Anyway, make sure to keep us posted with your achievements.
