Ok, I will start with a bit of background about myself first.

I have been running websites selling retail products for about 15 years now, usually in the luxury goods and entertainment markets. Pretty much all sorts from mobile phones, handbags, CDs, DVDs etc and usually sourced out of Malaysia, Thailand, China etc. I am very capable on the design side of things and I used to work with someone for most of that time, and it has been a good match. They would run the stock and shipping side of things and I would run the websites, marketing etc.
Usually when one product line sales would start to diminish another product would usually present itself and we would move to that. Unfortunately in the last couple of years the markets have become more saturated, and opportunities have become less frequent, so me and my business partner have kind of moved onto different things now. As last business we were in partnership with is dying he has now jumped out of it completely and you could say I'm just there picking up the scraps.
As well as this as sales always dropped for us just after the xmas rush, so I usually took this time to go overseas for a few months, kind of like an extended working vacation.

This has now lead me to where I am now which is that I am currently looking at trying to make an income from internet based work only, no more products for me hopefully. This will give me the chance to travel more than I normally do.
This is probably an 12-18 month plan of mine, as I planning to relocate at sometime late next year. Unlike some people here I am not after that huge gold mine (even though it would be nice), but what I think would be an achievable 2000 gbp / 2500eur / 3000 usd a month income. As I would be heading somewhere such as SE Asia, South America, etc and this would let me live overseas quite comfortably and also allow me to save money for extended trips back home.
As for the work I am currently looking into methods that are high intensity to start with then will gradually require less input but still give a regular income. It would be nice to get back into the old situation of finishing work by mid afternoon and enjoying the rest of the day and maybe a few times a month doing very high intensity work.
It may sound like I am after the easy money (aren't we all), but I am trying to set things up as I do believe quality of life is more important. As I said earlier this is more about a nice regular income, rather than chasing that big pot of gold.

I have been a member of BHW for a fair few years now as I used to use it regularly for SEO stuff, and was a regular buyer in the market place. As I haven't been on here for a couple of years, my old username is no longer accessible as the email no longer exists and for the life of me I can't remember the password. None of that matters anyway as I am starting afresh here, so probably makes sense to start with a new account.

    Anyway to the plan!

The idea is to hit it in two directions, one is on the social marketing side of things, and the other is by putting up micro niche sites running adsense and amazon links.

The social networking side of things will mainly be via Facebook groups and pages with the occasional twitter trip. Income will be produced either with referral posts to the groups, and most probably eBay referral via the pages.

The micro sites will probably be bought in and then maintained myself. Even though I have done a lot of SEO myself in the past, I have been out of it the past couple of years, so do need to spend a bit of time on here taking a refreshers course lol.

I have been working on this for about a week now, and the current state of play at the moment is that I have about six Facebook pages running with only one or two followers, one website running, and I am in the process of making up new Facebook profiles of which I am about up to ten.

To see if my idea works I will need to action the following.

Find some good affiliate programs that are Facebook friendly, and if needed produce a website for the application process.

Find an affiliate program that incorporates the eBay partner network as it will be at least six months before I am in a position to apply direct.

Have about ten Facebook pages running, with half of them being auto fed from somewhere, and the other half are niches that I am very knowledgable about so will be run manually.
With these pages they also need websites with the auto fed pages having auto fed wordpress sites, and the manual pages being fed from Facebook,

Have a minimum of 100 Facebook profiles for group work, not quite sure what I am going to do here yet but I do have a few ideas.

Anyway I will update this once in a while, and please feel free to offer up any suggestions, even if it is not something that I am currently looking at, as any idea could turn out to be a good idea for me.

Thanks, I'm in it for the long term so I don't really mind how long it takes to get there, as long as it does :)

    Just a quick update here........

I forgot about one thing when starting this, all the SEO software I plan to use is Widows based and all my machines are Macs. I finally have my ten PVA Facebook accounts for testing, but no means to test them yet.

I installed Virtualbox onto my Mac Pro to start running some software trials but I'm not having much luck with it, so I am not just about to look for another virtual machine.

The next step will be to buy in a new Windows laptop and use the sell of my Macbook Air to fund it......

Ok, Virtualbox was a bust for me, my Mac is 64 bit and it would only show up 32 bit options, so that was a bust. I now downloaded a 14 day trial of Parellels Desktop which has installed fine, I also got as 90 day trial of Windows 8.1. It is running very slow, but will let me download a couple of software trials and do a bit of testing. I don't really want to go out and buy a new Windows laptop until I know it will be used, but I am pretty sur that will happen.

Just a quick date while I'm waiting for my dinner in the oven....... I bought a new laptop, got it today, and pretty much shut it down after about an hour, how can anyone find a Windows computer useful these days lol.... Was a Windows user till about four years ago and always thought they were better. After using Macs for the past four years I now understand why so many people switch. Everything I was doing on the Win just took so long, it was a combination of both a new laptop and a new interface, but I just didn't like the feel of the laptop, so going to stick with Macs. Also a relative wants to buy my current Macbook Air so between the money I get from that and cash I get back from returning the Windows computer I will treat myself to a 15" Macbook Pro Retina which should be a lot better than the 13" Air I would use when I travel.

This now brings us to today, now the new laptop was a bust, I am looking at getting a UK VPN. Now I have looked into it a bit, I am now thinking it is the better option. If I have read up on it correctly I can log into it from any computer that I have a remote desktop installed to and also it will let me run my software continuously. This would be particularly useful for when I travel. I am very computer literate so shouldn't take me long to get my head around it. So as of today it looks like I have taken one step back and one step forward.

Tomorrows plan is to sign up to a VPN, get some software installed, and finally start running some tests!

Anyway gotta go, my ovens just pinged so foods ready and I'm starving! ;)

Ok, I have a UK VPN now, signed up to Shape Host which I found in the market place and first impressions are good. Got mass planner installed, and have started to run my 10 test accounts. My main concern is running of a single IP address, but hopefully it won't be a problem, if it comes down to it I will just have to rent some and include that in the running costs. Not quite sure which way I am headed with this yet, but that direction will eventually show itself when I see which things work.

On the microsite side of things, I started to build my money site this week but run into a snag. Turns out that Facebook has the domain on it's spam list. I checked the domain and it turned out to be used in the past by a spammer lol.... I did think the name was too cool to be available. I should have done my research. I did contact them but had no reply so that domain is probably dead. Oh well time to register a new domain and transfer the data over. I have also bought a couple of micro sites of here to test, I have a few ideas what to do with these, but need to find a supplier that I am happy with as I need them to be in certain category of my main niche.

On a separate not I did randomly make about a couple of pounds from google adsense last week, just from a side site that I was doing and has had no seo work done to it, and all the content was pretty much copied from different sources. This has got me thinking that if I can get say 100 seo'd sites up that are somehow fed automatically, that could be a potential direction to add into the portfolio as well. I am going to look more into this.

Ok, this is the first chance I have had to update in a while. The Facebook side of things have been put on the back burner for now, I think I need to read up a fair bit more about it first. It was going to take a lot more time to run that side of things compared to the Micro Niche side of things, and as I am busy with my current job, one had to go and I think that on the time vs reward side of things the sites is a better option for me. As well as that as I am thinking of travelling more the Social Media side of things could end up being a pain due to logging in from different countries etc.

So as of today I am working on about 10 micro niche sites, I have had to outsource some of the work as I am busy, but this does also mean that the initial testing would start a bit quicker. Unlike the social network side of things this path is a slow burner. Having worked on websites before i know it takes time to generate traffic, get the clicks, get the cash. That is ok though as I did say at the begging this is pretty much a two year plan. Statistically as I am new to this I expect about 50% of them to fail through the testing period, but after a few months I will know what works and what doesn't, it is a shame though that testing take such a long time in this field.

My first authority site was a bust due to the domain, so I am thinking what to do about this bit next. I know a good authority site could make good money, but I do have to think that if I am running multiple niche sites would I actually have time for this.
