    Hello,
I want to start autoblogging today but I need to choose between two hosts hostgator or dreamhost. The reason I have dreamhost in the mix is because they have a special today to get a year of hosting and a domain for about $10 which is a huge discount. Is hostgator really that much better than dreamhost? Would spending all the extra money be worth it? Does dreamhost have cpanel and wordpress built-in?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi all!

Ditto with bluemagic. I've been with HostGator for three years now and any time I've had a problem, they've fixed it immediately. If you can afford it, go with them. If not, then go with who you can but switch to HostGator when you can afford it. You will notice the difference! Good luck with your auto-blog!

    Cheers! :)

Any more comments on dreamhost? I was thinking of buying the $10 hosting.

That hosting comes with a domain.

OP I went to dreamhosts site and they do have a panel for wordpress.

    I don't believe it's Fantastico though.

I use hostgator and any time I've had to call on thier Customer Service dept - I received a reply within just a few hours. I would recommend them.

Ok, I did a google search and found a couple of reviews for dreamhost.

    hxxp://www.webhostingjury.c0m/reviews/DreamHost

    and

    hxxp://www.dreamhoststatus.c0m/

    (replace the xx's and 0's)

They don't look too great, but might not be bad as a test bed for new sites.

Don't even think about Dreamhost. Hostgator rocks. I have a lot of sites on it and there's almost no downtime at all. Service is fast.. try the live chat.

Hell, with WP-Super-Cache installed.. my site on Hostgator shared hosting actually stayed up during a Digg frontpage.

I have friends who have had their dreamhost accounts canceled. Both for pushing to much traffic to their accounts. These were the 'unlimited' plans.

I just switched to HostGator because my websites on my old host were starting to load way too slowly. So far, I'm very happy.

Google for HG coupons, I got my first month for 1 cent.

If your looking to host "autoblogs" then your not looking at a shared or reseller hosting account... you need at least a VPS or even better your own dedicated server. ThePlanet.com and WiredTree.com are some good sites. ;) PS. That's only if you are looking for a long lasting effect. ;) Hostgator? Dreamhost? All them similar sites are 100% bullshit certified and they oversell their resources... But that's your choice, eventually in the long run you will see it for yourself.

I have never heard anyone say you need a VPS for blogs.....it kind of defeats
the idea of spreading your blogs across different servers and diff IP's??

Can you give your reasoning as to why you need a VPS?

I signed up with dreamhost today, I mean you can't really go too wrong paying $9 for a whole year of hosting...

I intend to put a few autoblogs on there, I'll see how I go.. Judging by the majority of responses, I will be scheduling daily backups so if they pull it offline, I can just move hosts..

VPS + WPMU = Fast & Easy Blog Creation with just a few clicks.
With a VPS you can always buy dedicated IP's which will cost no more then $2 per month. :)
Just search around BHW, autoblogs have been discussed many, many times.

i`m using dreamhost too for some of autoblogs , they work well actually I didnt had downtime since november ( like 1 hour and 22 minutes I had downtime on november .... ) they have one click install there ( and its working pretty nice atleast I like it - with option to upgrade new versions of wp ... ) ... their support is sucks when you ask for help for other scripts ... also good catch for dreamhost is option to use google apps for emails :D I love them ! :)
