    Hi Guys

    History (Pre Journey)

First off I just want to say there are so many inspirational people on this forum it's mind-boggling. Thanks for your inspiration, and thanks in advance for your support.

Though I discovered BHW in May '14, I was beyond noob, the IM proto-noob. Blank slate of blank slates. That said, I am a big believer in diving in and getting your hands dirty, rather than overloading on academia, so I have since a few put a few irons in the fire:

    - Written & Published 3 Kindle Books since July (this is generating small $ currently, $8-10 a month since October, but that's up from like $3 per month when I started);
    - Created a Health & Fitness Specific Niche oriented Wordpress Site with PPC [Adsense], with 40 articles written by me (my first basic attempt at PPC, results have been dismal thus far);

Kindle was an easy area to begin. Simply requires ability to write, and knowledge of filetypes and conversion (EPUB, MOBI etc). PPC obviously is a massive learning curve, AND competitive on a grander scale, so my first Wordpress site has not performed greatly (for reasons I am gradually grasping).

What I have learned here is I am naive of a lot of the technical side of IM. So that, along with PPC and Clickbank are going to be my future area of focus, with a Kindle title here and there if I find appropriate topic.

General Long Term Goal (5 years +)

Long term, I'd like to set up to be at least earning $500-$800 per day. This will financially allow me to do things I desire.

Short Term Goal (6 months - 1 year)

Short term, I'd like to be generating at least $50-100 per day, whilst I am still working.

    Journey Specifics (DECEMBER 2014 - MARCH 2015)

The first 6 months have shown me where I need to put in work. So in this time frame, i'd first like to build knowledge of keyword planning, landing pages, building email lists, SEO, traffic generation, traffic conversion. Then put my next project (Clickbank/PPC site) to work, armed with better expertise, well.. expertise in general, to make it better than the first attempt.

    Primary Goal

    - Dec 1-20: Mainly Technical Reading / Video Watching.
    - Dec 20- Jan 4: Holiday Break. Develop Detailed Written Strategy. Create Next Website. Web Page promoting CB Product, potentially with PPC (my guess is I will come to an understanding whether combining PPC will help or hurt my success during the technical research phase).
    - Early Jan: Develop proper Marketing Campaign
    - Jan - March: Marketing Campaign for Site: SEO, Social Marketing (FB, Twitter, Utilise Fiverr, Youtube Video, Google Circles, Digg, StumpleUpon, Hubpages (missing some maybe?))
    - Take stock of progress in March
    - Will keep tabs of what I am doing throughout, and hopefully it is interesting reading.

    Secondary

As Kindle has proven successful for me, my goal there is to quite simply release more titles, when I get ideas. Similarly, becoming technically better per above, should feed into more success in marketing the Kindle titles. If anyone wants me to detail exactly what I did so far, more than happy to.

Thanks Guys, and you'll hear from me regularly.

Great plan mate. With Kindle, the more you publish the more sales you will see. In my experience, if you stop posting new ebooks, the sales dip quite a bit. Good luck with this ! Don't give up too soon :)

My phone went off with its weekly reminder to update this thread. Probably won't have anything super valuable to share until I start the actual work late December. But logging what I have done, regardless.

    28/11/14-4/12/14

    - As indicated in my goals I have spent this time on technical reading (watched some vids, but they tend to be pimping a product of service). Mainly keyword research and traffic generation. I have kept a word document open with notes from everything I absorb whether its a full book on traffic generation or a blog post. Also compiling a spreadsheet I can use as a tool based on the information I have, so it can help me implement my IM plan. Been doing this nightly.

    - Started my next Kindle book. Have a structure developed and loose notes on each section, and the first four pages written. I want to get this one done and listed by December 26.

    - Unrelated to my goals, I've allocated a small budget to fiverr social marketing for my existing site and kindle books. I just want to throw a bit of money at people with reputable gigs and see if I can bootstrap off their traffic sources and get some hits and sales. Arranged a promo on my most recent title that kicks in December 16, hopefully xmas browsing customers will throw some sales my way.

That's the week in review, not too interesting at this stage, but I need to keep the momentum and motivation consistent.

    WTM

Agreed, its a small learning curve too. A non-fiction ebook is basically an extended college essay (except more effort :) )

    - After some fairly significant reading time I have begun my keyword research. Already found one suitable long tail keyword with pretty good characteristics. I will probably run with this keyword as my next project.

    - The only thing is this isn't a topic I naturally know that much about, I was messing around with different keyword tools I had found (mainly Google Adwords Planner) and its just one I have simply fell into.

    - I am not that keen on using an article spinner, because they don't seem to create very believable articles. Also I'm not sure how swiftly Google is to undermine sites with spun articles? In any case, I have written four articles on the topic already during my free time. It's not that hard to regurgitate info from the net.

    - Once I have a base of content, I will use some fiverr guys to help get the site together. I think this site might work good with a pinterest campaign. Facebook and Twitter are obvious choices. Not sure I'll bother with Tumblr (though, its probably good to go on as many social media and aggregator sites as I possibly can right?).

    - I had a really good look around for different PPC alternatives to Adsense. Some people would rant and rave about certain alternatives like Chitika, BingAds, BuySellAds etc, but then an equal amount would say they were bad. I have basically done a 360 and come back to concluding that Adsense is probably the best PPC to use. Also I have $26.00 in there from my first project, but at the rate that one is earning, I will be an old man before it gets to payout :). A more successful project will bolster those earnings and push them out, then I will get rid of that site (unless by a miracle it starts earning good).

    - I have no doubts about using Clickbank. I have seen many success stories online (at least i'd say out of the ones I looked at, possibly 70 percent are genuine). I also have an Amazon Associates account, so I will use that 'opportunistically'. By that I mean put links in the article themselves if they would appear natural. I will not clog a page with iframe ads :).

    - I have kept working on my Kindle book, but I have run out of content to write about. It needs to be bigger than it is otherwise I can only sell it at small price. I thought the other day maybe I will take the 40 articles from my fitness site that isn't earning, and combine them into some kind of weight loss kindle book. It would only take a couple hours and would easily be 50 pages. Get some fiverr guy to make a cover and see if it sells.

    - My goal over the next week is to build an idea of how exactly I will use social media. That is gaining followers/likes/pins/retweets etc. I am fairly confident in my keyword this time. At the same time I almost completely understand why my first website 'failed' (it currently generates a cent per day haha), and it was down to understanding keywords, and also how to utilise those keywords in the site for SEO purposes.

Until next time guys thanks for reading. Best of luck with your projects.

    12/12/14 - 18/12/14

So I have had a lot more time this week because work and training are both winding down. So much so I had an opportunity to put the site up. It is a hosted WordPress ‘.com' domain.

I have 10 pre-written articles. The content is original, well I am going through the hard work of researching the articles. I will have to do some more over this weekend (hopefully I can sit down for a few hours and get 10-20 done for rest of December).

Auto post scheduler is set up on WordPress, so it posts one per day currently.

Also from that, the post is simultaneously published on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr. I am trying to get a plugin to auto post to Pinterest and StumbleUpon as well, but having trouble with it.

I have an AdSense optimised WordPress theme, which also goes with the theme of my niche. The ads are up and running right now. Also separate pages promoting CB products related to the niche, which come off the main menu.

Have also been putting some sneaky hyperlinks to Amazon Affiliate aff links within the articles, where they don't seem too contrived.

Regularly going onto Pinterest, StumbleUpon & Tumblr to like/follow etc. Also on Google pages.

After I have 20 articles up, towards January, I will purchase some likes/follower packages for Facebook & Twitter from either BHW or Fiverr.

Unless I am misinterpreting Keyword Planner, I should get good traffic over time for this niche.

If you think I have missed anything, feel free to critique friends.

Just a real quick one since it is the holidays. The site has now been running approx one week. Getting regular followers on Pinterest and Tumblr. Twitter and Facebook not so great, I will definitely be buying some likes/follows in January.

Based on AdSense, visitors to the website has been steadily increasing. It has come to a halt today for obvious reasons. Hopefully the pattern will resume after the holidays.

Been posting an article a day as planned. Will be purchasing SEO software in the new year too. Will be around 20 posts on the site by then.

Kindle is staying about the same. I am thinking about doing some kind of other money making project whilst this site is growing, but I don't want to distract from getting the site traffic, which is primary goal.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays

Happy New Year to southern hemisphere people, Happy New Year to northern hemisphere people in a bit ;)

Just maintaining my regular weekly update. Have been posting an article per day, 17 articles now on the site. The traffic has had some good days, but a lot of crappy days too. It's only been around since mid December so I can't expect miracles.

Today I will get GSA SER and some Facebook and Twitter likes for my social media accounts. Once set up I will continue to post daily and evaluate how my progress is going.

Kindle is going alright. I don't really have a lot of ideas in my head for a topic for a new book so will need to brainstorm for that.

I have been lurking on some other threads and its really inspirational what some guys have achieved with focus.

    Cheers

Not much to report, I have GSA SER running full speed on my computer 24/7. Posting a SEO optimised article every day. I checked my pagerank currently:

External Backlinks Referring Domains Backlinks EDU Backlinks GOV PR Quality
    98 15 0 0 Weak
I am guessing that is not that good and I will have a while to go making backlinks before ranking for my keyword and seeing any growing traffic. I will keep grinding away.

This is how much more backlinks I have got this week
External Backlinks Referring Domains Backlinks EDU Backlinks GOV PR Quality
    257 59 0 0 Weak
Still posting a SEO optimised article per day. Up to 600 likes on Facebook. Gradually getting more followers on Pinterest, Tumblr.

Just going to keep grinding, and keep the eyes on the prize.

    Peace out

According to Check Pagerank, the website backlinks are no longer 'weak' but 'moderate', haha woohoo :). This is from running GSA SER only. It might be time to seek out some EDU and GOV backlinks with a reputable supplier.

I had my first revenue occur within this period. A whopping $0.17 from PPC. I will need something like 250 clicks a day at that CPC to reach my initial goal (if you hold constant for CB and Amazon, which I hope will begin to sell in time). I am just grateful at this point I am getting clicks with relatively low traffic.

The site is only needing an hour of my time or less per day now. So I am spending part of my time researching what I can do next to build more traffic. I know ultimately I just have to wait and post consistently until about May. That's if my keyword is as tight as I think it is.

    Cheers

Thursday update. No clicks this week :breakpc1:. At nearly 40 article posts all up now.

Traffic hits are going up, but its like 2 steps forward 1 step back. I have organised some scrapebox blasts via Fiverr yesterday, about 400,000 links. That's after reading Peedee's thread on Making Money (which I cannot link to as my BHW account is too recent). I might rinse and repeat for a few weeks to charge the ranking a bit.

It's been officially a month since I started pumping this site, and over a month since it was created. Patience I guess.

Pretty big jump. I have been using scrapes and a few other services to really blast the backlink side of things. I'm not sure if the 'strong' indication means anything, because the still unremarkable numbers of unique visitors are growing, but very sluggishly and inconsistent. It is now nearly two months of running the site and updating each day.

Any thoughts from experienced people? Hypothetically if the keyword is one that attracts x,xxx views per month, am I at a point where I keep SEO'ing and keep posting content, maintain the grind etc I will eventually start gaining good traffic?
