Hi BHW's . Newbie from Latvia here.

I am at this stage trying to figure out on how to promote my travel website. I do have a decent concept, myself been working in USA Travel industry for quite a while, have my clients, but still would love to optimize my site, so people would recognize me in G search results.

I recently ran across couple SEO freelancers on Freelancer , also on elance, as well have ordered some gigs on 5.

Now the question is - dont get me wrong, but do You agree that only the person who knows the industry can promote his business well enough.
I mean , my very last experience (and least for now) was hiring an indian freelancer , paying like 200 $ a month, and when i got the first report , i was like - OMG - what is it. The content was no how connected to travel industries whatsoever. I cant understand how do these guys earn money, as You pay them for results. As there are NO results.

What do You PRO's think - is it better to do SEO on my own, and just go with 5 from time to time?

    Thanks so much,

Is your website tailored to a specific region or is it a general worldwide travel site ?

    Here's my 2 cents:

If you have the time to do your own SEO, then do it yourself. It's safer that way and you have full control over the campaign, at least. Outsourcing SEO is a good option too, but find a reputable SEO company. By 5, I'm assuming Fiverr - don't get your SEO there. It's pretty much like hiring that Indian dude for $200 but only $195 cheaper.

Search around the BSTs here, there are gems here. Haven't tried it myself but t0mmy's rankusnow looks legit.

Also, check your backlinks because your previous SEO campaign may have had done some damage to your website.

Idealy if you want things done properly, do them youself, I do not mean that you should not outrscore some steps, but you should make seo plan for your self and move from there, normally I do tier 1 links my self, at the same time you can find good provider for your seo jorney, but 200$ month is not enough, at list this amount normally much more can be spent during seo process. If you pay someone 200$ month, you should not expect super tier 1 unique articles, 1 proper article cost 7-10$.
So my advice will be do it yourself or increase your budget and hire proper seo service or person

Also in state to hire person with 200$, better buy 10-15 quality contextual links, it will bring more effect and will not damage your site.

@Puceks,i can tell you that the best way is to hire an seo company that will tailor the seo project according to your needs and requests and also they should be transparent. in terms of budget, well,as they say,"you get what you pay for" for $200 its hardly rare to see any good long term results unless its blackhat ofcourse which am pretty sure is not the best idea for a long term business, but a good budget should be at least a minimum of $800 and above.

Sveiki and welcome to the forum.

You are in a really competitive niche. Your best bet would be to pick a smaller inner niche (e.g trips for families with small children) and start with that. Once you achieve some rankings go broader.

Also, stop playing with freelancers and use fiverr for tier 2 links only. The best way to find companies that deliver SEO results is to search google.com for two keywords every SEO company with balls is trying to rank for - seo company and seo services.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks guys. All of this is extremely helpful. Luckily I got just 1 service on 5err - that was link pyramid - didnt really see any results , so im ok with that. What do You think of these posters on the forum? I dont really get , why they are so well-rated , at the same time appearing only here on BHW. No one has ever heard of them when i ask my experienced SEO colleagues. Isnt that similar to 5err itself?
Also - if a decent TOP US seo agency is hired , what is it that i seek from them? What are the requirements You guys have requested when dealing with SEO agencies ?

Thanks so much for all the help!

Are you tried to buy SEO from 5ErR ?!

I don't know why you limit your budget to 5 bucks!
In my view best SEO sellers are available in BHW also. Why don't you try with them?

I recommend checking out the site skipplaged. It has been causing a ton of controversy lately, but has tons of traffic. It's hard to break into the travel niche, but this guy did it but creating something new. Just think outside of the box like this guy did. The real kicker is, this guy isn't even monetizing his sites even though he could be banking hard. Just something to think about

Well, my project is not made to be one of many. It is not a regular booking engine/site.

As for SL. Everyone who knows how airlines work, would love to benefit. Not many realise that airlines are multi billion corporations that dont appreciate their dirty little secrets to be shared to the humanity. The main reason behind SL's traffic success is it being chased by corporations like United and Orbitz ,and being over talked in social media , thus making tons of white hat juice.

Like to see whats gonna happen with them . Anyways thanks for the tip. All advises useful

Hi. No i did not try to do SEO with 5err. What i did , is i bought a gig , which in reality got me a nice contact to someone who told me a lot about SEO itself.
Obviously would not go for any cr*p from there.

Did make an order from 2 ''top rated'' link builders.

Does it make sense, if I dont have my webpage on site optimized?

Can You advise on a good expert that can optimise it.

90% of the sellers here are Indian and yea most reports you will receive from them will also end in an OMG ! LOL

I don't know why they use such a low quality, they even dont do their best, they only want the money.
Someone gave me a sample of a "niche" blog. Result was the blog was only 5 months old and had only 5 backlinks, which 4 of them were deleted. And the price for 10 posts was like $150 .

And i am always wondering about the positive "feedback" in the threads!
I think they pay their friends or some mods to write a good review.

I honestly didn't have good success with a SEO offer in the marketplace.
