Ok. So I have a hot CPA product, and I'm going to start an offline advertising campaign for it this week, in the spirit of what Boozey is doing with his offline campaign!

I am going to try a few things.

    1. Newspaper advertisement - I live in a big city, so I am taking out a small 2 line ad in a popular 18-50 year old demographic newspaper. This paper lists all the clubs, music, that kind of thing for our city. Ad starts Tuesday, $50 is the deal I worked out for 2 lines in a highly visible section. So basically I have to make X amount of conversions per week (under 5) to pay for the ad. I have a good feeling about this one! I've also found a couple of sites that will let you buy 'packages' of ads in newspapers. They are a bit pricey, but after I test this one if it works I am going to give it a shot. If anybody has any experience with this I would love to hear from you!

    2. 18x24 corrugated signs or 'bandit signs' - these are the political style signs you see everywhere. They are basically weatherproof and I found a deal on eGay for $150 for 100 of them. The rip-off artists in town want $8 each! You still have to get stakes for them, but I found those on eGay as well for around $.50 a piece. So I'm looking at an investment after shipping of around $3 a sign.. I'm planning on putting them in high traffic areas on Saturday and Sunday mornings to start. I figure they will get snatched, so I want to get as much bang for my $3 as possible. This should be rolling by next week.

    3. Fliers. I did 100 color heavy card stock bright white fliers with pull tabs, it cost me $50 which I think was high, but it was a spur of the moment decision and I had it all done and printed in under 2 hours. I've started putting them up at rec centers, bus stops and any bulletin boards I can find. Only thing is I didn't make any type of tracking mechanism (i.e. a different subdirectory or something) so that I can track what is coming from these. I'll change that up on the next run.

So that's the first stage! If anybody has any offline tactics they are trying or are just thinking about, let's hear what they are!

    John

Thats a lot of initial investment for offline advertising.
I hope you get the conversions to at least break even.
A question about the newspaper ad: what section did you put your ad under?
Also, what is the difference between advertising in a newspaper opposed to a club/party paper?

do they specifically assign the space you want because i am not in the US and i will try offline advertising in newspapers through a site which i think brokers them,i dont even have the means to confirm whether they published my ad or not leave alone getting a good space.
so can i just call them and ask about my adspace or do they assign at random?

    Subscribed.

John I'm doing flyers (they cost me zilch as I manage a print shop) I'd be very curious as to your results.

How much is your CPA offer paying per action?

A lot of initial investment? $50 for the ad, and the same for the fliers. I am working off of profit already, so it is really no additional out-of-pocket expense. I would not recommend doing this with a page or a product that will not convert, but I have already proven to myself that the product converts.

I am hoping to return many times the $50 investment off of the newspaper ad, however I'm not so sure about the fliers.

I put the ad on the backpage. It's what everyone reads. Lots of other ads, but I've seen good conversions here from another business so I know people act on it.

I would not know the difference, except maybe people from a more mainstream paper have a bit more cash than a club/party paper, but you never know.

Yes, call them. They will email you a proof of the ad, you can ask about ad position as well. Ask them to mail you a copy of the paper it appears in. If they want your business they will do this no problem. Put it on a credit card so you can cancel if it does not appear or they do not send it to you.

Can you get me a deal on some flyers? I am thinking, I use a promo company for another of my businesses and they do 5000 glossy 4x6 postcards for I think $250. These are real nice, but a bit pricey. If I could get a better deal i'd sure be open to it.

The CPA pays well. Over $25.

Ok. This is going to be fun. The ad actually dropped today, print date was yesterday. There are about 100 ads on the backpage of this newspaper, and due to some kind of karmic love, I have the first ad!!

The newspapers are being dropped off all over the city now, my shop just got ours.

One sale already!!!! That's over half of what the ad cost me.

    *crosses fingers*

    I'll update.
