I've got 5k followers in about a week manually. I look for the most popular accounts in my niche, who usually have 1mill+ followers, and look at their followers. Then I just follow/unfollow these. Loads of new people follow the popular accounts so there will always be fresh accounts for you to follow. Plus this way they are genuine/organic and will actually be interested in your page and keep following.

Why? Are you saying to unfollow those who doesn't have accepted your request? to not hit the limits?
I do the same trick... and I unfollow the privates (that accepted me) the same way of public accounts with no problems.

I'm currently at 8,7k but not a lot of engagement.... My account is a personal profile type, so a lot of selfies/shootings and my music videos (I'm a musician/singer) I get around 500likes on photos of myself (cumulated with new likes got after new followers refollow me, if I post the photo and rest my account for a day the photo maybe gets around 250likes)

If it works why do something different, it sounds like you're doing ok so keep doing that. As for tips, I'd get a bot to stop wasting time manually doing this and also build 5-10 more accounts so you're safer just in case, you can also use the rest to grow your main account ( by doing regular shoutouts for your main) if you're into that.

Not using a bot is just wasting your time, especially at such an early stage of the account.

total agree. You need first to build the account with solid bases, then you can use a bot. Suggestion: create your OWN strategy and if needed code a custom bot rather than a commercial one, don't fit the strategy to the bot

in any case, nice progress OP and good luck with growing your account! from my own experience I've been following only people who have liked photos. this strategy allowed me to keep very good engagement on my account
Start liking 500-1000+ of pics a day.
A good amount of them will follow you if you have an account that interests them.
What niche is your page?

I'm finishing one right now, just need to tweak it for better "experience". Commercial software are fine too, but sometimes they doesn't fit your needs.
