For those who are not aware: Chris Roberts, the creator of the Wing Commander series is making a Space Sim to end all space sims. So far the project has reached $120 Million in crowdfunding.

That's not even why I'm posting this. I'm posting this because of this 2016 Gamescom video of Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 (current version is 2.5) that shows what the future has in store.

Just sit back, grab your favorite beer, turn off the lights and enjoy the beauty of Star Citizen. I can't even call it a game after this, because it just feels like a living breathing universe.

I can't wait to be able to afford the latest computer + VR headset to play this monstrosity when it finally launches.

I personally don't see anything special in Star Citizen, maybe that will change in 10 years when the game is released.

Hope it turns out good tho.

Dude, did you at least watch the video that I posted? I'm excited, but I hope it doesn't end up like...

At least when Todd Howard lies, he does it with confidence. Gotta step up your A game, Sean.

Yeah I was really impressed by that demo. I just hope it actually does get released...

I'm pretty sure that it will if Chris Roberts doesn't die from sleep deprivation first. The guy who keeps doing the , "uhh uuuhh ugh" is Chris, lol.

Just some silly little space game that will make black hatters who trade in game ships for real money very, very rich. Before the Oculus Rift came out, one of the unofficial OR forum admins paid me $60 to post as much information as I could find on it. When Star Citizen finally does come out with fully optimized VR support, it will likely lead people to practically live inside of the persistent universe.

The marketing possibilities for this game will potentially be greater than anything Pokemon Go could possibly hope to achieve. Hopefully, by that time I will be making enough to invest in Star Citizen's marketplace. When the Javelin-class destroyer came out, it cost a whopping $2,500 in order to own it before the final version of the "game" was released. That monstrosity is 345 meters long. It requires a MINIMUM of 23 actual players to control it properly. There were a limited 200 of them available when they first hit the market almost 2 years ago.

Now imagine how much money a Bengal-class carrier would be worth when it's roughly 3 times longer. You can't actually buy one but you can find it and fix it up. I can imagine that many people would want one, especially the market-savvy types. Since ships will require licenses and death will have penalties, people will spend real money on these ships. We'll see how it all pans out.

I'm actually awaiting the game itself, as well.

All that sounds nice but think about all the work it will take to get 23 people just to fly your ship. You have to first find 23 people then command them. Shit half of the people I run into on online games don't even use mics.

Sometimes games can be too big for their own good. Im sure a lot of people will love this game but for many it will be too much.

    You could always hire NPCs...

I imagine that the AI will at least be as smart as the enemies in F.E.A.R.:

This game is over a decade old.
CIG allows players to run their own Star Citizen Private Server/s. I'm looking forward to seeing what people will come up with -

All in real-time, no loading screens, fly anywhere you like, land anywhere you want, explore the ship while the crewmen are running it, etc.

Add a fully working VR into the mix and you can say goodnight to planet Earth.
Also, did I mention that you could work for ingame corporations? I can see myself sitting in my ingame office chair drinking virtual coffee as space ships zoom by outside -

Fuark, I pumped myself up. Maybe I should become a sci-fi guru and market this shit. The hype is real.

Cloud Imperium Games, you guys are massively insane for even attempting this and I highly applaud your efforts -

If someone showed me this video when I was a kid - I likely would have shat myself.

As higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment. Let's wait for release.

From an angle - I sort of agree with you. I have high hopes, but not high enough that it will fall short for me. So far, many people have spent more than $100 on the game and yet have had hundreds, even thousands of hours to play around in the Star Citizen Alpha X.XX. That to me is well worth it even if it ends up being some elaborate scam later on. I can't remember the last time I spent more than 10 hours playing a Triple A title from a well-known developer.

EDIT: Only YouTube vids can be embedded?
