I dont get these people who sit on domains for years without using them, except, maybe, for totally untargeted ppc pages that nobody clicks on.

do they really think somebodys going to buy them?

Not to mention it's not exactly legal to squat on domain names; less so if it's a trademarked name.

People do truly believe that their horrible looking pages parked on Sedo will sell.

Out of habit, when I see an automatic generated parking page, even if it's legitimate, my mind will go back 6 years when sites that were undeveloped like that and looked generic screamed "your computer is getting a virus, right now."

It's either laziness or a lack of funds that prevent these lazy squatters from investing a few hours of time to develop something and get a huge ROI

Sounds like there is a domain name you would like but its already taken! Hey, this has been going on since the mid-nineties.

I inquired about marusia.com and that bitch told me she wanted 10 GRAND! For a domain...not even a site. They can shove that domain up their ass as far as I'm concerned.
I registered marusiabhw.com and called it a day.

Almost all my good domain ideas are taking by people who do nothing with them but wait on some idiot to buy them. It pisses me off too.

These noobs think just because the domain is catchy that it's worth 100 times the price the paid for it.

There's a guy that owns Nissandotcom

Go figure the guy that owns the domain, has the last name Nissan.

Nissan (the company), has been interested in buying the domain but this guy is holding on to it since he has legal rights because of his last name.

    :D

I'm sure Nissan would pay 6-7 figures for that too.

I've actually secured 3 valuable domain names off people who just registered them but didnt know the true value and were very happy to sell at $100 when the domains were worth x10!! So sometimes you just got to politely email the owner and act like a newbie yourself enquiring about the domain and you never know....

Its possible to use the name of a semi famous person if they are not a household name in the United States yet. And it is something totally unrelated, but if you tried to sell them the domain, and that was the main reason for buying it. They can file a suit to get it from you without paying you.

So look for someone about to be really famous, and then use it for something else, and use their fame for traffic. Its even better if its the same name as you,Imagine if your name was justin bieber and you bought justinbieber.com several years before he become a star, you would be banking so much in Adsense revenue.

You don't understand! They paid $8.98 for the RegFee, they're too deeply invested and committed to pull out now! They need to weather the storm!

Too much to lose, everything to gain from their awesome domain mesotheliomahealthinsurancelocaldoctors

I worked for Redbox DVD Rental company and a guy called me and said his email was like bob@TrueBlood.com, and I was like oh do you work for that show? And he says no my last name is Trueblood. I pulled up his account and yes, his legal last name was Trueblood and his email was legit, but the TrueBlood.com site redirects to HBO official site. So he basically just uses the domain for email and redirects all the traffic to them. At first I was like ok why does this guy give them all his traffic? Then I noticed they have an affiliate program.

This guy legally owns Trueblood.com, because its his last name, and every time someone types in Trueblood.com he is planting an affiliate cookie. Now that's automated income. Wonder how much he is getting off of it.

Lets say there is a singer in Romania and he isn't a household name in the U.S. yet. I buy the domain name (.com so its us based one) And I use that name for the a video game I'm making, where the main character has the same name.

Could I legally get in trouble for that?

I hate squatters. I inquired about a domain a couple of days ago and their asking price was $100,000. The domain wasn't more brandable than something I could get for reg.

But I guess if they sell even one domain a year, they are doing pretty good.

Ok...that Nissan thing is really irking me. He isn't "squatting", and Nissan Motors isn't trying to buy it, they are trying to strongarm him out of his domain that he's owned for 17 years. That made me so livid I just sent a nasty email to Nissan. I will never support that company as long as I live.

Well, I may go against the grain, but if I own a domain and you want it and you don't want to pay my price - sorry, but it's none of your business what I do with it! I may have reasons that are way beyond your comprehension...

I own over 300 domains and some of them don't have a website or are not even parked, but why should it bother you? Maybe I want to leave it to my son when I'm gone. Get over it!
