Can you change your ip with the aircard's easily?

Because I have comcast and I do not feel like unhooking my modem and plugging it up over and over again just to post on CL.

EDIT: I just noticed that this post is totally in the wrong section also, forgive me.

It's pretty much the same process with the sprint card. You have to disconnect and reconnect to get a new IP. Not as fast as I would like since it takes time for it to connect but overall it does what I need it to do.

It's pretty good but I think new subscribers can only sign up for the limited data plan...i think it's 5gig a month which is retarded. I was lucky enough to get in when they still had the unlimited plan so I don't have to worry about over use charges.

Wow, I didn't realize they changed the plan. Hope I can renew with the unlimited - or just keep paying and keep my plan.

You can just disconnect, and reconnect (don't actually unplug anything)

Yes, ip changes automatically all the time. It's great.

I know the ip's change all the time for all aircards.. but does the IP range change?
    ex.
    89.123.51.519
    72.152.68.185
    15.18.18.10

or are the ip ranges always similar ( first part of ip always the same )

Yes, but I think there's only a few. I usually get IPs from the same few "ranges" if that's what you call them. I know I get at least 3 ranges that I can remember but I haven't fully tested it.

I just checked my usage. I'm slightly over the 5gb - my plan expires in 1 more year. Now I really hope they don't change the rules for those of us who got in early. That would suck.

I upload a lot of video sometimes.

I noticed some kind of nextel thing going on which I didn't see before either.

Iphones 3g change ip every time I disconnect and reconnect by turning "Airplane" mode off and on. Also, I understand that it can be used as an internet gateway.

ok so I should invest in a Iphone? Because I don't want a 5GB limit on the aircard. I would just get unlimited data on a iphone...

I really like my sprint card. Takes about 8 seconds to get a new IP. Unfortunately mine all come from the same state TX, although the IP range is pretty variable. The good news is the connection is really fast, I get about 1.5-2mbit off mine depending on the day, the weather etc, and since there are hundreds of thousands of users with these cards, I never ever have to worry about the IP range getting banned. :)

I wouldn't worry about the unlimited thing. I feel a change coming in the phone companies soon. They'll all be unlimited within a few years. I don't think they'll have a choice now that some smaler companies have cracked open the golden egg and started marketing with unlimited plans.

I have 3 aircards/3laptops and just subscribed a month ago and was able to get the unlimited plan. Did they just change it? Glad I got in when it was still available.... whew!

But - even changing IP's it seems that egay knows its still me and I have cleaned every possible thing on these laptops, even use CCleaner - went to flashplayers - changed all those settings, etc. Any thoughts on this?

How do you use it to connect your laptop to the internet?

I still have the older EDGE model but there is no way that I can connect hat to my laptop!

I have a sprint card and i only get a hand full of IP's when i am in the same area. I dont know if it is based on a local ip range, but i have had times where my IP range is out of the country which is kind of weird.

i have an iPhone 3G as well and can confirm that it gives you a different IP address everytime, although they are still all in the same range, but they are coming from all over the US.

there is also an app that was recently pulled from the app store that allows you to tether your iPhone to your laptop, but i believe they are re-releasing it within the next couple of days.
