So I've owned a sports betting domain for two years and have done nothing with it so far. I believe it is a very valuable domain name. I'd like to earn some income from it but I live in the U.S. where sports betting is illegal. I've thought about doing an affiliate system with books or other sports betting sites. My problem is focusing on a method. I'm new to all of this but I've been lurking on the forums here for a couple years.

Any input regarding a specific method? Is affiliate the way to go? Should I focus on Books or sports betting sites? Should I limit myself to one or the other? Have I not thought of another method?

    Thank you kindly!

You can't post such a vague description and expect an elaborate response. There are so many variables as to what should/can be done with a domain name. Is it an EMD that acquires a lot of traffic or is it brandable? if it's brandable, do you want to take the risk of operating a white label sportsbook? This is a high competitive landscape.

In the future, the more details you provide, the better the response! :)

EMD stands for exact match description? If so, then yes it is an EMD. The URL is 3 words and 8 characters. I'll gladly share it but not sure that's allowed.

I don't have a lot of coding experience so something simpler like affiliate linking sounds best. I'm sorry I am being vague That is not my intentions. I guess I am not aware of the variables you need to know. I'll gladly answer all questions.

    Thank you kindly!

Am I missing something or is selling E-books far from profitable unless I am the author of the E-Book...? Thank you for any input.

Why not setup a redirect to an affiliate. It's easier than promoting your own book.

Sports betting is a highly competitive niche. It might take you close to a year before you start seeing any results. Also I presume your target audience would be Europe. If you start off as an affiliate, you'd be getting a paltry 20% revenue share which can become significant only when you have some big bettors signing up from your link.

You would also need to have considerable budget to build a strong seo strategy.

As someone said, sell ebook.. collect the leads and you can either sell the list to one of the companies or use it to send your own email blasts.

Weigh the pros and cons and if you think you have the money/time then go ahead. If not, you could at the very least sell the domain. Just google for keywords like sports betting or online gambling... there are some good forums dedicated to the niche and selling your domain there should be easy and quick.

Sports betting is highly competitive I agree, but as someone in this niche I'd say, just give it a go. Don't let people put you off just cos it's comeptitive, if you have good SEO knowledge and can find an angle then you might do well out of it.

I know you're not talking about selling it here as opposed to making money but if you do go that way let me know as I might be interested should it be decent. I'm already in this niche and my only recommendation is that aside from doing a redirect or something along those lines it really does help to know what you're talking about.
