I hate where technology is going. Yes lets make things even easier for already stupid people, making them even stupider and now dependent on technology to wipe their ass for them. Why is the path of least resistance always so tempting for people? I like when life is a little challenging, its more rewarding that. I think there's a line that's slowly being crossed in my mind, technology is just making people even stupider. It's going to happen, people will become even more asocial and wont even acknowledge each other on the streets anymore, they'll be "plugged in" and be instructed by google or facebook or whatever new firm that will be king. Sorry for the rant.

Exactly, I thought only about "making money" from that ;)

Nevertheless, everyone is responsible for himself. I still like to read good books on "paper".

You're witnessing what will create the largest division between haves and have-nots. If you don't have augmented reality, you will be left behind.

As for the obvious accidents that will occur with this technology: We can use a cull of the herd every now and again. /socialdarwin

4-square's whole foundation seems to be the idea that people are going to "check in" when they make a purchase at a local business, and I don't think that's going to happen. So part of this video I think is wishful thinking on the part of some marketers. Maybe "wildest wet dream" is a better phrase, because I don't think it's ever going to happen. Taking a picture and uploading it, for what purpose. Most of the Google Places listings (the single-most valuable local listing) do not even have photos uploaded by the business owner's themselves, so I very much doubt that random people, somehow "moved by the spirit of community" are going to do these over-hyped activities. And I'm also not convinced that adding video is going to be ever going to be a commonly accepted means of person-to-person communication, 1) because most people don't really want to be seen and 2) because most people don't really want to see what the other person looks like. There's a good percentage of calls that take place where one or both parties are in an activity that completely prevents visual communication, i.e. on the toilet, nude, etc.... So the whole video rang extremely false with me. And the Ukelele jingle sucked, as well as the metro-sexual New York urbanite with his OCD need to know exactly how many feet away his male friend is in the book store. No one is going to read books. They'll be collectors items and novelties. Book stores are going out of business, and anyone that has any tech skills at all is going to be able to download whatever they want to read via P2P for free. They should have had some 33 1/3 rpm albums alongside the books in that book store. Oh, and finally I noticed the big-huge pile of trash piled on that New York sidewalk. New York City? Get a rope.

Technology is a double edged sword.

How many people have been killed with hammers or live in homes where hammers were used to build that home? Lots eh? Guns can be used by psychopaths or protectors (and protectors often only have to wear guns to protect). A little philosophical but u get the idea. How many brilliant films have we seen that employ this technology? Now its in our hands. :dragon5:

And when all this techno shit gets to be a bit too much cold cash or credit can take us to quiet vacation spots where the use of a simple laptop an hour a day lets us get a payday as we play. :3some:

Perfect way to end up being run over by a truck. Also, voice input is one of the least effective and efficient types of input because it is full serial. Not to mention they have to actually manage to recognize voice commands perfectly.

Would never wear that stuff. I'm already too hooked into my computer. Wearing it on my head is a no-no for me.

They will become like in Wall-E :) Also, the first thing I'd try to figure out about those googles is how the fk i hijack their wifi to inject ads on their screen while walking past them lol. Kinda like today's wifi and sms spam.
