    Hi all,

    I'm experimenting spam referer, I managed to get something working with the RefControl plugin from Firefox but only in FF version 20. It's not very pratical to automate something with a plugin. I'm rather looking for something I could run in PHP but my cURL script doesn't fool Google Analytics.

    What I would like to achieve is having one of my site showing up in the referers of Google Analytics.

    Has someone managed to make this work? I wanted to write a longer message with more d├ętails about what I have tried so far but the automated moderation system prevents me from posting it.

    Tx!

    What I tried:
    Using RefControl (FF plug-in) > Works if I clean cookies, the right referer is sent and I see it in Google Analytics.
    Using ModifyHeaders (FF plug-in) > doesn't work, the real referer is sent through
    Using PHP curl > no referer is sent unless RefControl is active in the background

    For php I'm using the usual script (only one line shown here):
    curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_REFERER, "fake-site-url");

    any suggestions?

    Tx
