I have a site that was hit heavily with some negative SEO. I received a manual penalty via Google. Anyways, I submitted a disavow file and sent a reconsideration request to Google just letting them know I had been hot with neg SEO. After a week I got the below message:

We have processed the reconsideration request from a site owner for http://www.******.com/. The site has been reviewed for violations of our quality guidelines. Any manual spam actions applied to the site have been revoked or adjusted where appropriate.

Has anyone else here ever received this message? How long before you saw any rankings return if at all? I figured Google would just ignore my message since all of my backlinks were pretty shady. I had already moved my site to a new domain. Maybe I will design a new site and keep two up. Anyways. Let me know your thoughts.

Yes, I have had my site's spammy links revoked. It takes about 2 weeks I want to say before you see your rankings back. Just try not to build anymore spammy links directly to money site or you will get hit again :( I am trying to recover again :)

I was getting hit with thousands of spammy backlinks. Not my own doing. I'm afraid they probably wont stop.

Exactly. That is what I'm thinking. I may try to run 2 separate sites though.

i never wasted my time to recover a site that was hit,i think is just a waste of time and money.i can rank a new site faster that recovering a penalized one.just start again,is what i am doing every time when i get a site penalized.

This is what I do as well. It's just too much strain trying to recover from a penalty even with an accepted reconsideration request.

OP: It usually takes about two weeks to see a full recovery after penalty has been removed.

Everyone that is giving up on easily recoverable domains because they don't want to spend a few minutes dealing with removing links and reconsideration requests can I have the domains?

I have recovered quite a number of sites from penalties and it's not hard and they usually regain rankings to previous positions.

Seriously though people PM me if you are just gonna give up on your sites because you hit a small road bump.

I agree with getting started with a new domain, but nothing is safe from negative seo.

I guess we will see. I will let you guys know how it goes. I've just decided to run two sites with different content of course. I will see which one I can get ranked quicker.

IMO, don't wait for recovery, start with new domain and content if your site is niche site. If your site is brand, then try to recover it. Recovery is possible, but it will take time.

Your rankings will recover, all the penalties I have removed have recovered back to the rankings it had before I had a penalty. So it is possible.

With the Sandbox/30 day waiting period recovering your domain is a lot more practical. Even if you start a new domain you'll suffer the 30 day waiting period AND have to de-index the old site or you'll get hit for duplicate content (if you clone the site onto a new domain).

if they disavowed the links (good links) which helped your site to rank then your ranks will not return.
you will need same link juice to get back.
