Are you using a proxy? If so, that may be why. We've banned a lot of public proxies to try to cut down on tards creating multiple accounts here. If that's not the case, PM me which IP address you're having trouble with.

Same thing happened to me! When I saw the message though, I didn't have time to send a message out about it. Then, it went back to working just fine the next day - out of nowhere. Weird how these things happen.

I also think it's a glitch. But it's good we're talking about it so folks don't freak out if/when it does happen to them :).

I get this message a lot when browsing from my iphone on the 3g network. Must be because it is a public IP.

I cannot log in via the IP at my house as I get either the fatal error thingy or the IP ban notice, so I have to go to one of the local bars to login which isn't all bad but gets expensive after a while and the little letters and numbers start looking funny in time. I use Time-Warner Broadband. I only found this site a couple of months ago, so I can't figure out why my home IP would be banned. I can see all sections of the forum through AOL except "For Sale" but if I try to login, I get the old "You Must Accept The Forum Rules", which I have about 900 times, so I just gave up and go to the pub.:D

I still have to go to someplace with WiFi to be able to login. I can see most forums and posts from home but still get the "You Must Accept The Forum Rules" occasionally and cannot log in. Today I am back at the pub, which is OK but afater three or four Chardonnays................................

That´s odd, isn´t it? I mean if you´re not using a proxy why should your Ip get banned? You could try to contact an mod with your ip!

Once i´ve submitted a reply to a threat and maybe 5 mins later I couldn´t access the forum for about 10 minutes. Man I was shocked, thought I was banned, and didn´t even knew why. But it wasn´t a ban, since some of you said you get an message if youre banned, don´t you?

I'm getting this message a lot too. I don't use proxies but I am on a dynamic IP which is set by my ISP - I can't control it.

This is about the only thread I can reply to. :(

It's getting harder and harder to ban by IP without accidentally banning groups of people just to ban the one bad one temporarily.

Many ISP have moved to NAT (network address translation) or are planning to move to a NAT based system.

If your ISP uses NAT you end up sharing an IP with thousands of people. If the IP get's banned all the thousands of people using that IP get banned.

The bad part is usually the one getting banned just has to do a modem recycle and wait a few minutes for the NAT to change his IP and he would be back in while the other inocent people are still banned.
