Hi all, I write on my laptop while sitting on the sofa.....but I'm a little worried this is starting to take it's toll on my neck.

Does anyone else have this problem?

What is the best way to combat it?

Yes, sitting on the sofa while working on your laptop is a terrible posture.
Here is an image with the pressure on your neck per angle.

Very common to get a sore neck, as the muscles will be overactive.

Soreness itself is not really a bad thing, but try to work in a correct posture on a table or what I like is a setup with an external monitor on good height and a seperate keyboard + mouse.
Laptops by itself such for proper ergonomics.

Humans will evolve into Pangolins after centuries of neck bending :D

(And then the Dolphins will smuggle us)

Called text neck, due to the angle your neck is at while working at typing/texting etc.

Get a stand for your laptop and then use a plug in keyboard at the desk level, this keeps your screen at the eye level you need .

Your arms must be killing you, get a keyboard and mouse setup. Having the screen that high is nice for standing, but holding the arms that high is not cool, speaking from experience :D

I’ve actually only had it for a week or so. I haven’t noticed that yet!

But, I’ll dig out my old external keyboard now. Thanks!

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Text neck....never heard of that until now.

That image of the weight on your neck doesn't look too good

I like the stand up desk. I get so restless too....maybe this will help.

Cheers everyone.
