Before I start, I want to say that this is all speculation from what I have seen, without doing full out testing. It appears to me that if you rank your website for a keyword, you can then down rank your competitors and up rank your site fairly easy with this method.

    Here's some details:

Recently I noticed that Google is collecting a lot more information when you make a search and to which website you click and how long you stay there.

What I think they are doing is basing a lot of their ranking on how long someone stays on your website, if they go back and search another website or if they exit google, the search or their browser after going to a website through the search engine. There is data being sent to their servers every time you search, go back and click a website. With the right bot, you should be able to go to your competitors website(s) and have it search, click the website and then press back and then navigate to your website through the same search, click it, stay for 1-2 minutes and then exit the browser.

I'm not 100% positive this works, but I'm 90% sure that this does play a factor in the ranking of your website. I'm not into SEO at all and I really have no use for this method/info, so I figured I'd share it here and hopefully you guys can figure something out to help with ranking easier. With the right bot and enough proxies, you could fully automate this by putting in the keyword to search, website(s) to be down ranked and website(s) to be up ranked.

If I´m remembering this right, there was already someone some time ago who had built a bot for something like that. He offered some users to test it but I don´t know what came out of it unfortunately :(

Interesting. This thing that I noticed is fairly new though, I just started noticing it a little more than a month ago.

The activity you are describing is your bounce rate. It is a standard ranking metric and has been for a while now. Your stats program will track it for you.

Unless you are using new proxies/vpn for every connection, the bots IP address will tell Google right quickly what you are doing.

    Google will not be pleased.

You don't think that the same IP address uses Google 10-100 times a day? You don't think that the same IP address googles and clicks the same website multiple times a day/week/month? They can't just block an IP from counting towards this.

I agree with this, I was told a few years ago of how someone was using this technique to help rank their sites higher. They had a team of people working just to do this, I don't know how effect it would be compared to link building but I can see it helping.

Don't even bother! Google will still figure your story ;) and I don't think this is new. They have been tracking many metrics around 'bounce rate' like what causes it and how you compare with another competitor site, etc.

If there was a way around it, you would know it by now...

There was a proxy tool made 1-2 years ago that would search google for your keyword and autoclick your own site, they claimed with this tool that it would raise your position. If was tested by some members here and found not to work.

It would be very interesting to test such a tool now. Never say never
