    Hey everyone,

I purchased a domain for a popular new gaming accessory that has to do with a secondary purpose for that product. This accessory is extremely popular and one of the most popular attributes about the product isn't what it was primarily intended to do.

I was just recently contacted by someone at a Venture Capital company inquiring about purchasing the domain. I don't want to value to the domain too low, yet at the same time I don't want to miss out on a lot more money than I could have received.

The domain is a two word .COM, having to do with a newer product that was released several months ago for a gaming console. It is one of the premium domains without a doubt in regards to what has come from the release of this accessory.

How should I negotiate the sale? I feel like I could be shooting myself in the foot by going too high, and doing the same if I go to low.

    Suggestions?

Extra info I forgot to add - I don't have it monetized yet or anything up on the page yet. That was my plan very soon here, but thought I may be able to sell it first.

What would you be happy with? That is what you should sell it for.

If $100.00 would make you a happy person, sell it for that.

If you would hate yourself for taking $100.00, sell it for more.

Just remember that THEY contacted you about the sale. If you go too high and they really want the site then they will counter offer. If there is a set dollar amount you want for it then tell them. Otherwise, have them make an offer.

Seeing that they contacted you first, I would ask them to make you an offer and then take it from there...

Great suggestion! I've decided to just email him and do that. I'll see what comes of it.

    I'll keep this thread updated.

Thanks for the heads up! Although I've done some research on the company and the person that emailed me. He's listed via a variety of top Venture websites and all of his info checks out. This is a reputable Venture Capital company and individual within the company.

Just as a pre-caution, you can also ask him which service he uses to transfer sites. This would be able to save you a lot of time to make sure he is 100% serious about this.

The common price for a website is 10 times what you make in 1 month.
don't go over 500 dollars if it's only a domain name you're selling

Yes, they came to you. Make them make an offer first.

Like they say, first one to name a figure, loses.

Also remember, whatever they offer at first, they're setting at a starting point to negotiate. So, if you like what they offer, tell them a bit more.. and then negotiate down so you're both happy. They want to feel like they're getting a good deal.

Plus, it's a VC.. they have deep pockets. Let us know what happens.
