Not sure what happened but when I check my google analytics stat apparently last Friday-Monday I received way more "direct traffic" all of sudden. Take a look at this screenshot:

    http://anonym.to/?http://i53.tinypic.com/2d0e80j.png

as you can see there, my usual direct traffic is less than 100 visitors a day but all of sudden i received a huge jump and the peak was last Saturday whenI was getting more than 2000 direct visitors! I totally doubt if all those visitors were really "natural" visitors as my site is a pure affiliate website..

I'm currently #1 in my targeted keyword and I suspect someone else send me all these traffics, but the question is: For what? to increase my bounce rate? Well since Tuesday everything has been back to normal but I wonder what happened last weekend..Anybody knows how to track this further (like the real traffic source as analytics failed to detect that)? Anybody ever experienced this kind of issue?

update: i just checked my awstats stat, and i dont see anything "unusual" from 8-11 july (last friday-monday), the traffic number is very normal according to awstats. is this just a bug from analytics or awstats simply too crap?

i also just checked my bandwidth stats and in the past 7 days (including 9-11 july) the bandwidth usage is very normal...i think this is analytics problem. I hope yes...

Could be anything. Maybe pingbacks/trackbacks from new IPs? Possibly some type of redirected traffic?

did you make anything from the said traffic? Check your account with the networks and see if there is any jump on traffic or clicks in those days. That can confirm whether the traffic is real or someone elses analytic results fell into yours.

Well i have told my affiliate manager about this and she said "everything looks normal to me", but she's checking with their compliance team and will update me as soon as that team has checked it out.

Well according to my own stats in the affiliate network, both sales and clicks were pretty normal (for those days).

So basically only GA told me something's wrong while awstats, bandwidth log, and my affiliate network stats all are pretty normal.
