    Hi all,

I've been UNABLE to explain this link building technique, and I figure someone here, trained in the black-arts can help:

There is this site (attached in image file)
where there is this one page that is for buying cheap viagra. (Likely someone hacked the site and inserted this page, right?)

***What puzzles me is that when I checked their backlinks to this specific page, all the backlinks say "buy cheap viagra" which makes PEFECT sense. BUT, when I click the backlinks, I CANNOT find a clickeable url, or description (in the header), or anywhere on any pages that reference "buying cheap viagra".. take a look at the backlinks using yahoo site explorer. Make Sure that you are looking at backlinks for the page (see image file attached)

How is this possible: The backlinks don't appear to be backlinks ???

Simplest answer is YSE are wrong. Another simple answer is the links were removed but did in fact exist for a time (rented links for example).

I'm not sure I would agree with the theory of YSE being wrong here as much as I totally agree with the footprints of the links being a clear sign of rented link practices. Nice call on that part of it.

@ stewane - don't take up this practice, as it gives you shortlived hits but also ties a lot of baggage to the domain over time of doing so. Not worth the effort.

Invest in other backlinking techniques, like automated and semi automated pinging new content posts from your site properties.

Bernie from BLF said this "The original site was hacked, as were all the linking sites! The clue is in the IPs of the linking sites, notice how they are all dreamhost and close in IP Server range - notice too how none of the linking sites have been cached - dreamhost have corrected the problem and blocked the SE bots for a short time in an attempt to stop SE's indexing the hacked version."

The links have been removed or are either not working. What kind of a campaign is this where you get links showing in SE but when you actually visit them they are not there. Bad for the site.
