Got an email today saying they want to put a banner in a widget on my sidebar and asking how much I want for 12 months.

Site is getting around 200uv a day, so what would be a reasonable asking price?

Depends on what size the banner is. If it is 300X250, you got to charge more. if the banner is small then you got to charge relatively less.

If your niche is related to insurance and financial services then you got to charge more, if it is in some other cheap niche, then less.

Assuming your site to be an average site and assuming the banner to 300 X250, I would say 150 to 200 usd.

I had a similar website in the Tech nice. It was receiving roughly 300 unique views per day from search engines (ranking page 1) and other sources.

First of all, are you going to have the website for 12 months? You might wan't to give a shorter contract. Maybe 1 month, 3 month, 6 month and then 12 months. It's better that way if you're not sure whether this site will be with you for a year or not.

When I got asked for Ad space, I charged $150 monthly. And the client was happy. But let's see what other members say.

It's hard to say really without knowing more (not that I am asking you to disclose anything to me) But I can say from experience that you should make an offer to them instead of telling them to make an offer. Any time I told someone to make an offer they disappeared. Even if you high-ball it a little they can come back with a counter offer. I am sure someone will pop in with a handy dandy formula to calculate the value of a banner.
