Okay I met a guy who found a way to verify any G local listing in the USA. I told him he can probably monetize it if there is enough people wanting to buy. If he offered the service here how many of you would buy a listing for $100? If enough people are interested then I will tell him to open up shop, thanks.

You can't just come and open up shop on bhw. He will need to become a Jr Vip first and that takes time and posts and what not.

Also, you used to be able to verify by phone - unless that's changed now and its harder to do then I don't see it selling.

True. I forgot he had to be a VIP to post a BST. Sorry for the wrong advice, OP.

Well actually you have to verify by address now, but he can do both types of verification. This will be a brand new listing and it would have the information that you want listed. Yes I understand the process of being able to sale on here but he just want's to see if it would be worth the hassle. He has already verified 3 listings for me so I know he will have no problem keeping up with the orders.

And then have all listings deactivated once the loophole is closed.

I have seen this person or people like him advertising in Craigslist for addresses to use for Google local so they can have more than one local site.

This person is paying $5 for you to let them use your address, have a card sent to you, then you send them the code, then they put their business online using your address.

Every SEO person in Houston I know agreed to do it and sent the information straight to Google.

The local algo is for real local businesses, and if you think we are going to let spammers and scammers come in and fuck it up you are very sadly mistaken.

It might happen, but it will be after the fight.

If you can get someone to give you their home address for $5 then please tell me where I can get this deal lol. I already have several listings in Houston, so yes you have lost the fight.

What happens when your customer looks up the address you used and finds it to be in the a crack house in the middle of the fifth ward?

I don't know who would pay $100. He would be better selling the software/ website w/e to someone for couple thousand. Or possibly licensing the software to people for like $19.99/year.

My client sat on letter "C" for a week, and then one day the old "B" fell off the page and there was a new "B", that I'd never seen before. Did some research. Bullshit listing. Reported the bullshit listing. 5 days later, said bullshit listing was on page 3, and my client was the new letter "B".

    Someone lost their $100.

I got more to say, but will hold off until I've done a bit of research, but I will say that these seemingly innocuous threads that creep up offering services that sound too good to be true for prices that sound too good to be true, offered-up by completely disinterested 3rd parties that seemingly have no interest in facilitating the sale of said services seem, well, kind of bullshit to me. Almost like someone is trying to sell a bullshit service on BHW to BHW members without having any of the checks & balances in place, which are intended to protect both the BHW members as well as the reputation of the site.

Read a few shitliist threads. They start out just like this, and end up saying things like "don't buy xyz service from somedouchebag@gmaildotcom because they promised me an 9" dick and then (surprise) one morning I woke with one, shoved deep inside my ass."

Surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise. And that ain't mah FINGER, either!

Google is wayy too on top of this nonsense. I had multiple listings for a long time. Thing is Google investigates this regularly. I had to inform all my receptionists on exactly what to say if they called to investigate a listing. They will not tell you it's Google, but you can tell its them by the phone number (605) area code.

Anyways, I ended up getting so many calls so often that I deleted the fakes in order to save my real listing from getting banned. There is no easy way to do this. Your competitors will report you as well. Hell, I'll report on my competitors too if it will get them removed and move me up the 7 pack.

Just as an FYI to anyone reading. This is what a scammer looks like. This is a the type of post that newbs refer to in the shit list section when some asshole takes their money and doesn't deliver anything in exchange for it. It's the reason why BST's (Buy/Sell Threads) are regulated on BHW, to protect newb members that don't know enough to understand that if something sounds too good to be true, it's because it's a scam. Read between the lines here. What the scammer cannot mention is that, even if by some "loophole" someone gets a local listing, all their competition has to do is report that fake listing and it will be deleted from the local results, and the owner's website will be demoted -50, -100 or deindexed completely. Meaning that, you don't just go back to where you were before you started, you risk suffering permanent damage to your placement in the local search results.

Think being page 2, letter "D" sucks? Page 5 is even worse. Local businesses are so stupid, frequently people advance to page one for no other reason than the previous dumbasses violated Google's terms & conditions and got their asses kicked off. Meaning, doing nothing has a tendency to move you forward, due to the stupidity of your aggressive competitors. Greedy, stupid and reckless competitors that pay attention to assholes like this guy right here.

It isn't so much that this won't work, it's that it CAN'T work. Most niches require post card verification, and even then Google can further investigate the listing. Unless you're providing a service that rents virtual offices for people and creates listings that way, which doesn't seem like what you're doing, then you shouldn't waste people's time.
