Hey everyone. As a Vegas local I thought I would give you some the best spots on the strip. I have lived in Vegas for almost 3 years and played poker here at least once a month for the previous 12 years before that.
My first pointer would be this City is much bigger than it looks. I tell anyone that is coming here that you should stick to one half of the strip. The Tropicana is on the south end of the strip. It is right across the street from the MGM so you can easily grab the monorail there. The monorail runs from MGM to SLS and stops 3 times in the center of the strip too. Tickets are very reasonable and it is an easy way to get around. There also is Lyft and Uber here. If you don't have an account with those services find someone who does and you can get some promo rides from them. Lyft gives you 10 $5 rides if you are new and Uber gives you 1 $20 ride. The Taxi drivers here are crooked! They will charge you several dollars to use your credit card and they will long ride you and run the meter up. Not to mention it is probably 75% more expensive that the ride share companies. You can also walk across the street to Excalibur and there is a free tram that runs from there to Mandalay Bay.
Food: The best part about this city is how crazy good the restaurants are. The best way to make sure you can get a table is through opentable.com Free app that most of you probably already know about but I know a lot of people are coming from other countries so I thought it was worth a mention. There is a really cool operation here called Tix4Tonight. They have little kiosks and booths spread all over town and you can get discounted shows and discounts on food there. It's a great operation and has a lot of value! https://www.tix4tonight.com The closest one to the Trop is the Showcase Mall. Probably a 8-10 minute walk. There are two really close steakhouses that I would recommend. Biscayne at Trop and Tendor at the Luxor. There is also a place called the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay that has amazing views of the entire strip. At MGM there is an Asian place called the Grand Wok and Sushi Bar and they have Craftsteak which is a really high end steakhouse. Both are worth going to check out if you want to brave that gigantic resort.
As far as breakfast there is a buffet at almost every property. I am not a big buffet person but people do love them and I get it. The Hash House inside of the Linq is really good but there is always a very long wait to get it. The other really good breakfast places are on Fremont Street. I won't go into details but you can ping me if you want more data on those.
Shows: The obvious ones are the Cirq shows. Everyone loves them and they are fun. The most underrated show, and it's right across the street at Luxor, is Carrot Top. I know, I know. But I swear if you go see him you will not be disappointed. I was very skeptical even though I had heard good things. You will laugh the entire time. The other two that are less convenient are Le Reve at the Wynn and Absinthe at Caesars. Both are worth the price of admission.
I love talking about all the cool things to do here so feel free to PM if anyone has any other questions!
