    Good evening everyone!
I have a few questions about SEO. Thing is that I've been reading a lot about SEO, but couldn't really find some basic things related to it.

Today I changed the primary domain of my website and I want to start from scratch. Right now I am trying to do as much On-Page SEO as I can, since I want to make my website structure good before starting to rank it on the search engines.

Now I would like to know where to start with SEO? Should I first index my site to Google, add sitemap and some other things with Webmaster tools then go on building backlinks?

Also, are XRumer links worthless? I read that it's just a bunch of crappy backlinks which you get from bad domains and those backlinks basically have no value. Is that true?

    What does backlink ping mean?
What are the Wiki links for? Useful?

And the last question, is this Fiverr gig good for ranking my website?
    http://fiverr.com/crorkservice/add-‐your-‐site-‐to-‐700-‐social-‐bookmarks

It's not that I am not promoting it, I just read in one tutorial that it's good for the start and it can help me get my website into the top 10 pages on Google.

Any help is welcome and will be greatly appreciated. :)

My advice is do not use webmaster tools, best to keep as far away from google as possible. Xrumer links can do wonders for a few weeks if you throw hundreds of thousands at your site in a day, then wave goodbye to your site and start again. If you want to keep your site. I would suggest a good solid amount of quality web2 links.

Well, I ordered like 25,000+ XRumer backlinks to my old domain, then I read that I should not be creating that many backlinks, so I decided to start over because I messed up at the start.

Btw. why should I not be using Webmaster Tools?
And thank you for your advice!

    Here's a few pointers.

Build your site up with SEOed content first. Work on your structure. Research all the keywords you will be promoting. DO NOT just focus on 2 - 3 keywords, go for at least a dozen. These can be ones you are actually looking to rank, and just generic niche variation or LSI. Use all of them in your tags. Set up 3 -5 categories in which your posts will appear. Optimize your site title, descriptions, and homepage tags for your main keyword/keywords..... the rest you rank on internal pages, so set up accordingly. Integrate your main social media properties into your site. Once all your content is up, submit your sitemaps to google and bing. Consider also using image and video sitemaps, speaking of which make sure your posts are media rich, and that media is uploaded to the site, optimized for your keywords, you can get traffic and SEO value that way also.

Now you can start building some manual links. If this is a site you want to last and rank long term, spend at least a few weeks building up it's backlinks manually. Use anchored (your keywords) as well as full url links, and a few "click here" "check out my site" style links. Some niche relevant blog comments, some social media profiles, some relevant directories, some High PR bookmarking sites, some Web 2.0's and you'll have a solid foundation in place. Then you can start thinking about some automated link runs. Xrumer blasts (especially from Fiverr) direct to site are a NO NO. Bookmark/Wikis are fine and great for doing big anchor spreads. Same with Web 2.0's. Get a few high PR comments from the BST's here (just a few), that will help with your PR. And then look into some blog posts, and maybe one of the many All in One all SEO services offered in the BST's, looking to target your homepage and some inner pages for a narrower anchor spread.

That should get your site staring to rank nicely. You can apply more concentrated high PR homepage links to the homepage to rank that, and/or attacking your innerpages for some other keywords that you set them up for. Biggest misunderstanding I see is people assuming you can just build links and rank for those anchors... no, you have a very select few keywords determined by your titles and tags for each page, and the homepage is exactly the same. So if you want to rank for more terms, you'll have to do it on a per page basis.

Hope that gets you on the right foot man.

    Cheers.

I just personally would not use it, it gives Google more insight into your sites than they need, which in my opinion far out weighs any benefits of it. No you should not use that many links unless you are purposely trying to spam your site to the top for a hit and run website.

If you're using white hat techniques webmaster tools won't be an issue but, if you'll be resorting to any blackhat techniques to rank stay far away.

First you should work on all on-page optimization techniques and then move to backlinks...
