Some guy trying to destroy my legit whitehat business

I have a legit white hat business, into which I have sunk thousands of euros. One of my initiatives as part of the start up campaign is to generate likes on facebook by offering a valuable prize. I'm not going to reveal it here as that is outside the scope of this post and as I said its a white hat venture. This guy is purposefully going round forums and facebook groups telling everyone that the competition is a scam and to mark it as spam. This is completely false, as this venture is completely legit. I want to tear this guy apart, piece by piece, but where to start? He has a bricks and mortar shop with an online presence.

One idea I had was to show him what spam really actually is by getting his mail accidentally dropped into some big spam lists. Trouble is I don't know where to find those lol

Anyone here got any ideas how to deal with this guy?

    Take legal action against him.
Send him a lettery from a lawyer demanding that he stops with what he is doing and demand from him to delete his claims, otherwise you'll press charges.

You can try writting the letter by your self at first. Since you know his address and since letter will come to his office he will very probably stop doing it.

yeah I thought of doing that, but the country in which I live has VERY expensive lawyers, and as I said I have already sunk thousands into this project. Unfortunately I don't really have the budget to take it on. THanks for the thought though.

I thought also about SBing his email address all over the place. He runs a body piercing place so I thought I would start spreading rumours about his shop being unhealthy etc. Again, ideas are still welcome.

If you are unwilling to threaten him with legal action then contact the owners of the sites and let them know that he is slandering your business and to take down the information.

You should really look into just having a lawyer right a letter. You may be able to find one that will do it cheaply. You don't need to retain them just yet just ask how much it would cost for a letter.

Your country must have laws against spreading lies and untruths about people and businesses using either the mail, internet or other electronic communications. Research those agencies that can help you for FREE. Report his false accusations to every webmaster where he has posted this information and include this information he posted.

    Dear Webmaster
We need your help! We have sent the person who has posted the following FALSE INFORMATION about us and our company the following demand.

To The False Poster: Please be advised that we are demanding 10,000 Euros from you for posting the following false information "enter the false informaiton" about our legal business.

ATTENTION WEBMASTERS: We do not want our lawyers to make demands on your website for our losses caused by this false information because you are not the ones posting the false information. So, am asking you to please remove this false information from your website and ban the person making these posts from your website.- Thank You

Here is a demand letter to the JERK.

    ATTENTION JERK:
This is a demand for 10,000 Euros that you have caused us in lost business by posting this false information "include the false information posted" . The demand for 10,000 Euros could go a lot higher as our investigation continues.
We have reported your false accusations to all governing authorities and webmasters where you have posted your lies.

P.S. You have 30 days to forward us the 10,000 Euros and withdraw all or your false postings or we will take much more drastic action against you.
    -------------------------------------------------
In the USA I would destroy a jerk like this

    Good Luck

Brushed into something like that a while back. Any lawyer relatives? It wouldn't take a minute of their time. Mine had a template even...

Sue for libel. Although being brick and mortar, he will probably win in court. Most judges or arbiters are stuck in the 1970's.

    1) Make screenshots, make videos as proof of all he posts on the web.
Save log conversation, be sure to have a lot of proof.

    2) Take legal action. Call a lawyer and send hin a letter (asking a refund of course).

    Have a nice day ;)

You won't make him stop if you would damage his business through internet. The war may even escalate.
    I wouldn't suggest that.

If you know some shady guys, this is an option, but make sure, that he doesn't know some too...
Cause sending the message this way will indentify you, if you that the message has the meaning.

The lawyer or even your own letter (if you can write at resonable level) will make him stop.

I can't help you much with your legal problem if you don't want to pay a lawyer. Don't give him proper fuel against you by trying to sabotage him, though. Very poor idea..
